Remicade every 6 weeks now, more hair loss?

So, I started Remicade and have had 5 infusions. Finally they started working a little. I am not in remission by all means but I am having more good days than bad days. I actually had a 17 day streak over the holidays where I didn't have an accident or blood in the stool! I started having symptoms return badly about 4 weeks into my last infusion so my doctor changed it to where I am going to start getting them every 6 weeks now. I am excited to see what this does. The only thing that concerns me is that I am losing my hair so bad now at every 8 weeks, do you think that will get worse going every 6 weeks. Seems like it will to me. Do you guys know of any supplements I could take to combat the hair loss?

I'm guessing the hair loss might be because you've been so ill, and not due to the remicade. It takes several weeks (I'm sure quincy will chime in as to how many) after being ill for the hair to start falling out. I lost a lot of hair near the end of my first flare...part of it was the "extra" pregnancy hair I'd grow, but I think it thinned even beyond my pre-pregnancy normal. I noticed it got thicker again once I'd been in remission a while.

I think some people on here have had good luck with Noxin shampoo.

Have you been on prednisone recently? I lost a TON of hair after I tapered off pred. I haven't noticed any hair loss related to Remicade.

I had all the hair loss, but from Asacol and sickness. It has come back, but nowhere nears what I had.

Yazzy- I am glad you are having better days now, and I am most interested in the fact that you have had 5 infusions. I have had 3 and have been kinda disappointed that I am not considerably better. I am better, it just seems SO slow in coming. I still have all of the same symptoms, but not as severe. I have heard it can take up to 7 infusions to notice a difference. I haven't noticed a hair loss, though...I did have that before when tapering off Prednisone. I am doing that again, now at 5 mg. daily. Can't wait to be OFF...

I have been weaned off the prednisone for over 6 months. But I have been really sick until here recently so that makes sense, thank you fruitgirl. Daffodil, I had no improvement of symptoms at all and many trips to the hospital and finally on the 4th treatment I saw improvement for 4 weeks. I know what you mean about it coming on slow, I read about people going into remission after their first treatment and I was so disappointed. I hope you see some results soon.
