Diagnosed H.pylori, now required to take antibiotics?...c.difficile last time, what to do..

You might be able to mitigate the risks of antibiotics if you take prophalactic PRObiotics to help offset the antibiotics. S. Boulardii is a probiotic yeast that is immune to antibiotics and may help prevent C Diff and other bad guys from filling the void created by the die-off from the antibiotics.

It may be a good idea to also include more conventional probiotics. There is no such thing as too many probiotics.

I think antibiotics for treating my h. pylori infection is what caused my UC.
Anyhow, the antis are a necessary evil. Its the only way to treat it and h. pylori is considered a carcinogen so a chronic infection wouldn't be good! I would discuss it with your GI and make sure to up the probiotics.

I am in a flare whether it's from the bug or not but is causing me some problems now. The urgent bathroom is OK, not very urgent. The bm is sometimes blood in it before and enter the movement. Or sometimes it is just a little light coloured maroon mucous liquid and a couple of drops at that.

Burning pain between my shoulders once in a while, occasional burping but not as much about a month ago. Starting to feel nausea and dizziness these past 3 days. Not very hungry.

Oh and my eye has been trying to act up as well. It was the burst blood vessel to my left eye, corner. Then some redness started toward the inner corner of same eye, sensitive to touch around my eye and on the left side of my forehead and top eye. Very strange. Was prescribed on jan 6.10 garamycin 0.3% eye drops, 4x/day for 5 days by a doctor. This is now finished and did help for the weekend but the redness continues in the inner corner area. The outer corner seems to be healing well, just the darn inner corner acting up. Very strange. The Have Opt appt tomorrow to get this checked out.

So, I am still in the dilemma of taking the antibiotics for the full 7 day treatment. Has anyone gone through this while having UC? Can you let me know how it worked out for you? I do see my doctor on Monday, jan 17 to make the decision. I probably end up taking the antibiotics......necessary evil?!

 

 If they know that you have H.pylori , then yes you should take the antibiotic. I would definetely get the probiotic S. boulardii to take with the antibiotic.

 I agree with BabeintheWoods add some conventional probiotics after the anti is done.  We have had great luck with Natures way Reuturi , PB8

  and Culterrelle.

Well, I am starting the antibiotics, the HPAC has 7 blisters (7 days) of 8 pills. One side of 4 pills (morning) has Prevacid 30mg lansoprazole delayed release capsules (1/2 pink 1/2 black colours), second pill is Biaxin BID (clarithromycin) 500mg (light yellow colour) third and fourth pills are Amoxicillin Trihydrate 500 mg each (scarlet and yellow colour) and then the same pills for the night to be taken 12 hours apart for 7 days.

I felt good about 2 to 3 hours this afternoon after taking it this morning about 10:30 a.m., almost felt normal for the afternoon! But now, I can feel a bit of pain right in the middle of my tummy area, about two-three inches below my ribs. So not sure if I'm just tired and holding in my stress in the middle of my tummy.

The indigestion, heartburn, burping was starting up last night, slept OK during the night and not bad this morning also. But I can tell from the burning feeling between my back shoulders and needing to slouch down to feel better was not going to do me any good, and that's why I decided to just go ahead and take the darn things, to get this part over with. I heard about another person in the hospital with bleeding ulcers, the person got to the point where they were throwing up blood and thought I'd better get this under control now while I'm "fairly" feeling well. (Starting to flare also, if this is cause or just the "usual UC")

So here I am, hoping for the best and going to take one minute at a time and wish it goes by fast within 7 days. I am starting to feel the urgency to go to the bathroom though, (pills probably kicking in as the pharmacist said it would do for the next two days for sure). Crossing my fingers to not be the dreaded c-diff any time soon. I do see my doctor on Monday and will see how things go until then.

I couldn't find the s. boullardi (florastor) so I had to take the Bio-K 1/2 97g bottle this morning for starters and then the other half I'll take this evening with the night pills. I'll have to order online.

So that's about it for now, gotta go washroom again then I'm going to rest a while. Some maroon coloured blood on its own about every 3 bm about 2 tablespoons, then some soft formed dark beigy colour with blood mixed in of course.

I started taking the pills today Jan 14.11 at 10:30 am, felt ok for early afternoon, but now in evening, feeling a bit of strange minor pain upper middle about 3 inches below my ribs about 8 inches in length, about 3 inches wide.
And some abdominal tenderness as well just pressing mildly on it. No I am not on any steroids. I'm staying miles away from that.

Just took the evening dose at 9:30 pm to see if this minor pain gets worse for tomorrow. Wondering if I should stop taking this?
