After a solid bowel movement, I feel like I need to go more. That's rectal inflammation, I assume. Only after the bowel movement do I feel this.

What's new for me is a feeling of irritation inside when I'm walking around. Is that rectal inflammation too? I assume it is. Just something I've never noticed before. It reminds me of a bladder infection.

or a hemorrhoid. or a fissure or both. or mild inflammation.

Do you have any other symptoms of inflammation in the rectum, like urgency, mucous or a feeling like you have to go all the time?

Oh I definitely have the signs of rectal inflammation you mention (urgency not so much an issue, nor loose stools or bleeding), I was wondering if that soreness/discomfort inside could just be another.

I do have gas and like I said after a BM, i still have urge to go.

I'm thinking some of the walk-around-discomfort is vaginal. It feels more up front, that is.Maybe an infection.

Just learned today that my rectal inflammation is very low and not the entire rectum, right around the entrance. So that's Canasa-ville, isn't it?

Doing great today!! The taper ups kicked in. Added regular psyllium husk and yogurt with tumeric and will see how those extras sustain me on the next time I decide to taper down the Canasas and rectal enemas.

Hoping I can do the taper again in the near future without a quick return of symptoms!

How did you learn where your inflammation is? Did you have a scope or something? Glad you're doing better.

It was a flex sig from a few months back, and I never really went beyond mild inflammation in the rectum. I called him up and asked specifically where. Can't believe I didn't ask in the first place. I guess even a tiny patch of inflammation can create hell for you, but it's good to visualize in my mind a smaller place of inflammation. Makes me feel better. Whatever it takes...

My colitis is mainly the bottom 7cm of the rectum. I have a lot of discomfort - in the front vaginal area and also aching in my bottom. I also feel like I am unfinished and need to do more when going to the loo. Taking Pentasa tablets and asacol enemas and that feeling is a bit better.

your last s-scope was when?

what's the plan exactly for the tapering and when?

If you do taper, maybe just switch up the enemas for the canasa twice daily for a start...

I personally....again..more med for impact..for flaring, but ifyo're not flaring and have continual low in the rectum inflammation, maybe the supps will be enough.

What about kegel exercises?

When my inflammation would flare up & I would get in to doc & he asked what it
felt like, I would say kinda like there's a little man with a cheese grater in my rectum!!

My clearest sign of early rectal inflammation is that it (rectum) hurts; it hurts when I sit down; it hurts when I need to pass gas or have a bowel movement. Once I pass gas or have a bowel movement the pain is relieved for a little while. I think the added pressure is what adds to it. I have been dealing with this recently and using the mesalamine (rowasa) enemas that I have on hand. It may be that I need Canasa. I just really don't want to have to go in and have a scope..... Maybe I should call and see if my GI can call in a script. Ugh.

I have a question about the enema part, do we just use that for the bleeding only or with the diarrhea part. As for me, the diarrhea has finished Friday afternoon. And the gallbladder area pain has significantly diminished for now. But now just the bleeding and the usual awful stuff that comes with it. I can feel it on the left side, like it a burning pain now and then around the splenic flexure area.

Is there a certain way to do enemas? I always have trouble with it. Or maybe I'm just inflamed? I don't know but when I do use, it helps. And the darn squeezing it out, always gives me a problem and I have to do it 2 or 3 times because each time I have to let the air out of the container. i don't know maybe I'm doing it wrong? Should I be using vaseline or something? Help me out guys. Because of the pain and the bleeding in the area mentioned above, I think I really need to use it. Thanks,

I'm going to go about four more days with enemas and canasa once a day. Then what do you think I should do? I'm a little confused.

Did you say Canasa twice a day? For how long?


My last S-scope was in October, I think.

no, you said to get off the enemas and do the canasa considering you believe your UC is very low in the rectum. I say...if you want to go off the enemas and try the supps twice a day, do that at the very least.

katkat...I've not used entocort...what does the bottle/dispenser look like? A smooth bottle or accordian type bottle?

If it's accordian type, squeezing the bottle of air won't help.

Let me know how it goes.

keep at that for at the very least 2 weeks. Taper the day or night supps over a few weeks to 0 and and continue one daily/
