It looks like I have passed this awful disease to my daughter, my older daughter who is 6years old.
Its not confirmed yet, but I used the loo yesterday after her (She didnt flush) and there was a floater, the other poo was at the bottom. The flooter I noticed had mucus and some red!! - Im worrying, both myself and my wife. Looks like it though, I know what I seen - and I hadnt been to the loo at that stage so it didnt come from me.
We will keep an eye on the toilet trips, and investigate the poo daily, before going to the docs with her. Is it possible im jumping to conclusions??.. Its not like the pot was red (like mine!)

Her diet is bad as it is, consisting of only smash (powdered potatoes), bananas, weetabix and bread! - I hate to think how this one is going to go..

Sorry suppose I needed a vent!

I work with preschoolers and believe me, kids poop comes in all shapes, colours, consistencies and sizes... Often a touch of blood from a tear due to straining or slight constipation. Their digestive system is also smaller and often faster, so food is often still mixed in stool. Don't panic yet, be aware yes, as there is history, but in my opinion it is probably nothing. Watch more for frequency, urgency or blood that last for a few weeks. We do become hypersensitive to the issue as we deal with it daily!

I totally agree with Canadagal. Don't panic just yet. Just keep an eye on her bm habits and if you feel the need to reassure yourself, take her to a pediatric GI.

I, also, worry greatly about my daughter. She's 15 and so much like me genetically that it scares me when she has D for a day. She has random bouts of bowel issues but I've been keeping an eye on her.

Getting 6 year olds to eat healthy is a nightmare!!

Just a thought, could you start mashing real potatoes instead of the instant stuff? The instant stuff has caused problems for me in the past.

Also, weetabix has started a flare for me in the past (I avoid anything with wholegrain in it). Is she eating weetabix everyday? Can you moderate it?

What type of bread is it? Again - wholegrain bread causes problems for me. The tough part is finding bread that's a good replacement. I currently eat wheat free/gluten free bread. Unfortunately I have to toast it because it doesn't taste good otherwise.

Thanks canadagal, I hope Im worring over nothing!!.. And this has helped posting, listening to responses.
Wavey, I wish she would eat real potatoes!! - We have tried everything, if its not in the list above she will NOT even smell it. Even sweets, crisps etc she is funny about. Only one type of crisps, (Quavers) and sweets, ONLY small gums, bears etc..lol
We have always been worried about her eating patterns, but her doctor said, she is healthy and thriving so no need to worry. Her Aunt was exactly the same until her teens, then she started to eat meat etc..

Hi,

I absolutely understand your worries - I have two young boys and fear I will pass this terrible thing on to them. Hopefully, it is just related to what your girl ate.

As a suggestion for your daughter's nutrition, though you have probably tried it already, you can give her smoothies. She might like the 'sundae" texture and you can sneak in lots of frozen fruits, bananas, even soy powder protein, a bit of peanut butter etc.

I wonder if it's a little tiny tear from being constipated. I'd never poop again if I ate what she does! lol Do you have fiber supplements that mix well in beverages? We have one in the US called Benefiber and I mix it in my tea and my daughter's juice or decaf tea and she doesn't notice. :o)
