copies

Another question for you all...


Do you all keep copies of all your "work" ie bloodwork, x-rays, scopes etc... and if so in what form? Paper, cd etc...

if yes or no....why or why not?

I've started getting copies about 10 years or maybe a bit longer.
I have cd copies of my 2 MRCPs and paper copies of the reports of whatever tests.

Yes and no for me.  I have gotten copies of all my past colonscopies and path reports because there was confusion as to what was going on.  When I 100% relied on my GI docs in the past and just basically trusted them I got into trouble.  So now I am a lot more vigilant about watching what is happening to me.  Before I switched to my current practice which is very high tech I got paper copies of these things.  Now I have 24/7 computer access to my personal file at all times.  I can pull up the GI report, the path report and any blood work at the push of a few buttons on my computer keyboard.  I can compare different years and even print them out.  So I guess the answer for me is yes.  You have to be own advocate.  Docs will treat you differently if they know you are watching like a hawk.

I have copies of all my health documents but I am not very organised and once I am given them I kind of just put them on the table and forget about them, then they get mixed with other junk. I've gotten copies of all my biopsy reports, stool tests, blood tests, x-rays and MRIs. My last colonoscopy was really good, my GI gave me actual photographs of my colon, showing the inflammed areas and the healthy areas. Was really interesting and helpful knowing what exactly is going on inside (but also kind of disgusting at the same time).
