I don't see to many people posting on here about hemroids. I have internal hemroids. The GI doctor gave me a cream yesterday to use twice a day. If anyone has had this problem can you tell me if the cream will work and how long does it take to work? The pain from these things has almost taken my life. I am only 52 and I enjoy going with my family and playing with my 3 year granddaughter...who by the way has her MeMe's heart. It has also caused me to have some depression because of the pain and not wanting to do anything for fear of the pain. If anyone can help me or give me some advice, I would love to hear from you.

What sort of cream did he give you? Many of us here have hemmies, myself included. I have an internal one and I use a hyrdrocortisone cream. It works fairly quickly and I notice a major improvement within three days. Of course the bigger it is, the longer it may take to shrink.

It is Lidocaine 3% and Hydrocortisone acetate 0.5%. I really hope my cream will work that fast. Thanks so much for talking with me. This is just something that you can't talk with everyone about. So it helps to have someone to talk with.

I found I had them in my scope in November. So...um...if you use cream (I've been using Prep H suppositories) how do you "deliver" it?

You use it the same way as prep H. The tube on the end is just a little longer and there is a hole at the top of the tube also so it comes out there too.

I think that is the same one I have (it's downstairs and I'm too lazy to look! lol). I hope it works fast for you! These things can be quite annoying and they can hurt something dreadful!

Levi, yes they have a nozzle at the end so when you squeeze, the med comes out these little slats or holes to apply the med. I have a problem of knowing when enough is being applied because I can't feel it, but obviously it seems to work either way.

So Sherry...Are you telling me that they will get better? I have been so worried and afraid to go the doc with them. Yesterday I had had enough and finally gave in. So every time you have a flair up you use the cream and it helps with them? Sorry to ask so many questions. This is the first time for me to have this since giving birth to my children. I have IBS so they say with the constipation it has cause them. The doc also said 80% of people have them..

Thanks again for helping me. Its nice to have a friend to talk too.

They should get better. In some rare instances, the doctor might have to do a little more (removal) but usually the cream takes care of them. And yes, if they go away and come back, you just use the cream again. Of course if it gets worse, don't hesitate to contact your doctor. That is what they are there for :)

Sherry can I just ask you one more question. Do your internal hemroids bleed or are they really painful? So far my haven't bled but the pain is so bad. Sometimes they hurt so bad they make me shake. I am sorry to be such a worry wart, but this is my first flair up and it is really scaring me. I guess I am acting like a baby concidering what you guys or going through on this forum. Hemroids is probably a piece of cake for yall.

If your stool is hard then some Colace will also help the pain

No, hemorrhoids are no cake walk! Neither is having Uc but I know that forums are limited when it comes to dealing with just hems so please don't compare yourself to us. What you are dealing with is just as real and just as painful.

Yes, my hems bleed. But with Uc comes fragility of the anal and colon walls which might make it easier for them to bleed. Mine tend to be worse when I am flaring with my Uc because of multiple bowel movements. They range from a burning pain to a sharp pain and the itching can be intense. I normally don't let it get that far though. At the first sign they are bothering me, I use the cream.

I use a hydrocortisone and pramoxine topical called Analpram 4 times a day and it works great!

Cortisteriods should only be used for short periods of time due to the chance of skin thinning

I am a 41 year old with hemroids. I have tried every remedy known to man. Sitz baths, creams, etc and nothing seems to work. I had surgery on 10/04/011 for diverticulitus that resulted in2 feet of my intestins being taken out and a iliostomy put in. My hemroids have gotten worse since then. Everytime I have busines to take care of they hurt more than they did before the surgery. I do not iknow if the surgery irritated them more or if something else is going on in there. I have also noticed that my belly button has changed. No longer the same size or shape. I thinik that I might have a hernia or something. Anyone got any idea of what I should do?

Indigo the cream should really help pretty quickly. I have external and I think I remember my doctor saying an internal hemmie too. My external ones bother me at times and I use the cream and it helps tremendously. I am thinking about getting mine banded.

Dandie-I would discuss this (the hemmies and possible hernia) with your GI and see what can be done.
