I am down to 10mg of Pred and will be ending it Thursday after a fairly long taper and two weeks of just 10mg. We will see how it goes, especially since I am spending the weekend in Northern MN on the snowmobile trails.

Wow, I'm sorry you are going through all of this!

If you're still wanting to get a second opinion and you live anywhere near southeastern Minnesota, I know a good GI in La Crosse, WI. I lived in Decorah, IA for several years and he was my GI. But there are lots of good GIs at Mayo Clinic as well.

lots of good tips here..one thing I don't see mentioned is diet. When I flare that is the first thing I address myself. Have you considered a food log and see what stays down and what doesn't? What worked for me in my last flare was a low residue/low fiber diet(google for ideas on what to eat), I remember a lot of white rice and sashimi

I hope you are feeling better! I guess illnesses do trigger UC. Usually, I get flares only from stomach illnesses (not respiratory etc.), but I guess any illness could do this to us. Anyway, I hoe you are feeling better. If not you should try a different GI. My first GI didn't diagnose me correctly.

Everything seems in order: Off prednisone and I have a 2nd opinion appt at the Mayo Clinic. Thanks for all the advice.
