Severe Flare Up

 

Prednisone was prescribed at 30 MG. After 5 days with visibly no change and probably worse, PRED was changed to 60MG. However, even with the 60 MG PRED, The bleeding or the continuous bowl movement is not subsidizing.

What are my options? How long will take to PRED to have any effect?

The pain and frequent trip is killing me at all level. I am feeling hopeless with no end in sight.

I second that, get in touch with your specialist ASAP. It's always important to have your doctor set your expectations for how long it should take to feel relief from a new protocol - minimum and maximum timeframes. An important questions to ask is: if I don't experience significant progress from this medication, when should I give you a call and pursue a different treatment protocol? Two days? Five days? Any other indicators that should have me call you sooner, such as a certain frequency of going to the bathroom, volume of blood, or intensity of pain?

Perhaps it may be worth holding out a little longer and trying 60 mg of prednisone if you only just started using this new dosage, but on the other hand perhaps you need a new treatment option or perhaps even hospitalization so that you might get solumedrol or some other fast-acting injectable steroid and IV-drip for water, sugar, and salt.
