I, too, try to resist the urge to go after the first few bm's. I find it actually helps form better stool. But there are times that I just HAVE to go.
My theory is in the morning, our colons wake too. Gravity and stimulation make our colons go into overdrive. It's like our colon's are having hissy fits. It doesn't like the feeling of stool in there so it makes us get rid of it. In some cases, it may be that the colon walls are just sensitive and it tries to purge what is in there. I sometimes too have solid stool in the mornings, first thing, but then it turns to D or mush the more I go. Our colon's have a hard time absorbing water at times which is what the large intestines main job is.
I, personally, have not had much luck with fiber. Either it gives me horrendous D or even worse constipation. I can't find that happy middle ground.
