Emma it takes awhile. I believe almond flour muffins cause me constipation and I avoid those.
Get some Magenisum in a bottle at Walmart and use when needed.
Good luck with your diet changes. IMO I believe based on my reality, going gluten free is the best.
well, strange as it may sound - almonds and almond flour are increasing my stool frequency and it induces disconfort in my gut, even while in remission. I used almond flour a lot in the past year, but well. seems that this year i must avoit it as long as possible. If i eat a pancake made from almond flour and some apples once in a week it's ok. If i do it more than 2 times a week, bad stuff happends.
You must know that almonds are rich in magnesium and also in sulfites. sulfites are bad for most of UC'ers. Magnesium can increease stool frequency and provoque D even in normal people.
Also i quit using magnesium as a suplement - i use only small amounts in a multivitamin pills called vitamax - because it also gave me D. It was one of the strongest reactions i had from a suplement.
regarding soups, again - strange as it may sound - the moment i gave up soups (also used to have one daily) D episodes dissapeared. It's been 3 months since the last soup i had. I only eat raw vegetables now - beetroot, carrots, piementos and so on - and my stools look great.
SCD works, but it must be adapted to our on bodies. The principle remains - no starch, no sugar - but the way we handle UC with SCD might be different for most of us.
The only thing to do is to hold on this principle and to test test test test until one finds the apropriate diet. Results may appear in time, and as far as i can say for me it was a long and sinous road, with ups and downs.
Hope this post helps.
