Dear All, I've been having very stiff joints of late. Although my BMs are controlled with Canasa, I feel great difficulty in moving, just walking is tough on the knees, ankles etc. Bending is virtually impossible without pain. Is this common? Best regards,

Yes, about 25% of people with inflammatory bowesl disease have joint pain associated with their illness.

Sorry your joints are hurting. When this happened to me, I started seeing a rheumatologist. He did a whole lot of testing to confirm that what I had was enteritis arthritis. Then he got on the phone to my GI and pushed him to treat my Crohn's more effectively so my joints wouldn't hurt or be damaged (I had redness and swelling on one wrist and hand, plus knee/shoulder/elbow/hip pain). My GI got the message and revised my meds so now my hands don't hurt. But my knee does (not badly).

My PCP sent me to a Rheumatologist as well. I went through a round of PT & Aquatic Therapy. It helped a lot. Now, I work-out on my own some at the gym. Gym Membership is not expensive.

Stay out of bed. Makes things 100x worse.

I have joint pain but my dr says they don't see that I have true arthritis based on my blood work. It does not appear to be related to my flares.

As I'm tapering off Pred (been on for nearly six months ... from 70mgs-15mgs right now) my joint pain has been debilitating at times over the last two months. In Feb got so bad I could not walk for days and literally had to crawl to get to the bathroom. What I found that works tremendously well is to use wraps or neoprene braces on the affected joints. Ace bandages, whatever. When I first did it my pain level went down at least 70% immediately, and I mean immediately and the joint pain in those areas has subsided to the point I don't wrap right now. The one place I am having problems with is my shoulders and those are a little tough to wrap... so my nice wife rubs them out when they are really bad (to the point I can't even put clothes on). Treat yourself and your joints the way an athlete would.

Has anyone had any problems with trying to kneel and sit back on your legs.. I can no longer do this I am so stiff.. Now
one shoulder hurts a lot (had a frozen shoulder.. the other one yrs ago).. and both shoulders hurt ... Is this from Crohn's or the humira? Has anyone had similar issues?
