Traveling with Rowasa

Hi all:

I know there have been posts on this before but for some reason the search isn't showing me what I want to see.

Anyway, my question is about plane travel with my Rowasa enemas.  I only need to take one with me and I'll probably just take it in my purse so I can be sure it doesn't get squished!  Of course the bottles have the name on it but do I need other documentation?  I've got the labels the pharmacy puts on the boxes with my name, doc's name, rx # etc.  Should I take one of those?  Will I need anything else? 

I was thinking I'd just tell the security guy up front what it is so I don't get searched and questioned to death.  I just don't want it to end up in the trash...those things are too expensive and way too valuable to me!

I've flown with them several times. First, NEVER put them in a check bagged, since the cargo area isn't temperature controlled, and that could ruin them. Also, there's always a chance your bag will be lost. If I only need one or two, I cut the label (showing my name, Dr.'s name, medicine name, etc) off of a box and stick that in a baggie along with the bottles. You'll still have to take it out of your purse and place in it a bin since it's a liquid.  I've never even been quesitoned about it, and most TSA agents barely give them a second look. The agent shouldn't be able to throw it away, because it is a medicine, and they are exempt from the liquids rule. If someone is giving you too much crap about it, ask to speak to their supervisor.

Mine (the Perrigo generic) come in a rigid plastic protective thingy in a bag in a box....I would be tempted to package mine with the protective plastic thing, or even use two of the plastic things surrounding the bottles, then in a large baggy. (With labels, etc.)

I have a cosmetic case (I guess that's what it is) which is made of fabric with some kind of stiffener and has plastic zippered pockets. That's what I usually pack mine in, and only once have I had one leak (I've been doing this for 20+ years.)

I would think medications would be an exception to the rule.

I haven't traveled w/ them yet, but this is an interesting topic. Calm-is it true that you are back to Rowasa nightly? I know you were tapering to every other. Just lately things have been acting up a little for me so I have added steriod supp to gain control. I wonder if it is this time of the year....
