     I've been glued to the tv since 4am (yes, consider me nuts) watching all the hoopla of the wedding of Kate and William.  As a former UP sufferer (cured by an operation last June 28th), I just couldn't help but think..."what if someone has to poop".  Many of the people attending the wedding arrived two hours early at the Cathedral.  OMG!  I noticed during the ceremony that the queen whispered something to Prince Philip.  I tried to read her lips and could have sworn she said..."I have to take a dump!"

LOL - hey even royalty have to use the bathroom! I am not into all the hoopla about this wedding to be honest.

I watched it too- my 8 year old aughter would've killed me if I hadn't woken her up for it! But we just watched the ceremony, from 6:00am on- and some coverage last night. And I'm sure we'll watch more coverage this afternoon! Not that I'm a royal junkie, but it is sort of fairy-tale like! Of course the bathroom issue made me think- what a pretty dress, shame to poop in it! I'd be slugging Immodium like it was a mimosa if Iwere there.....

My husband and I watched it and this afternoon my daugter and I will watch it since she was in school.  I am baking scones and serving tea.  Should be fun...but the kiss was pathetic!

Christine...after you said where would they poop, I was so happy because that didn't even cross my mind.  Since surgery, I just don't think about it as much.  After you said that, though, I did think that none of those people have UC because there is no way you would chance that!

Hahaha!! That's exactly what I was thinking when I was watching this morning. All those people in their fancy clothes.. and all those "commoners" in the crowds outside! Probably not a Port-A-Potty within a mile.. I wonder how they do it. I don't even remember how it is not to be constantly worried about the next toilet and when I'm going to have to go.

Did not watch it but keep seeing photos about it every time I go to Yahoo.

I take classical Indian dance. We have to wear our costumes for hours before our performances. Going to the bathroom in them is not easy. It doesn't matter if it's peeing or BMing. They both take about the same amount of time.

I am happy it was on during the night here. I was so sick of all the news. I don't really care about the royal family. They are no one spectacular, just born into this family. The system is antiquated. Normal people don't worry about the bathroom at all. I never did for the first 27 years of my life. :)

I have yet to watch so much as a second of the wedding coverage- I have zero interest in celebrities be it royalty or spoiled brats such as the Kardasians or Jersey Shore- though I certainly do wish any young couple well as they embark in a new life together- and it's not as if William or Kate have a choice but to do all this hoopla if they choose to be together. I do think that royalty is an anachronism in this century- perhaps it serves some benefit to boost British tourism and moreso, the sex appeal of British products to some extent, but I heard that the British economy is taking a hit from the forced holiday and that only a third of British poll respondents planned to watch the ceremony. But I guess it is good to see the media diverted for a moment from their 24/7 chicken little sky-is-falling drumbeat.

As for portapotties- even normies have to pee. I am sure there are plenty of portapotties but the Brits, with their charm for being discrete, just situate them around the corner from the cameras line of sight.

lol, normies do pee, that's true. I did worry about finding a bathroom to pee but I didn't worry about an urgent poop hitting at the most inconvenient moment as I do now.

I agree with you Probiotic - even the part about putting the toilets around the corner ;)

I am having a Royal Wedding party tonite and serving up british goodies (from the local brit store). I don't really care personally but will be fun to have some different foods, get together w/my girlfriends and look at all those fancy hats!

I only watch stuff on tv that I DVR so haven't seen much of anything to be sick of.

I didn't get up early; just caught the end when I came downstairs for the day. But I would like to watch a rebroadcast just for the music! I play the organ for weddings a lot and.... let's just say, none of them are this elaborate! lol So for me, the interest is more professional in regard to the ceremony.

My class was cancelled today so I set my alarm for 3:30 and watched until they arrived at Buckingham. I fell asleep and missed the kiss though :(

I was thinking the same thing while the cameras scanned the crowd. "I wonder if someone there has UC? Where's the potty!?"

I watched it with my children as they had day off school and then the highlights with hubby when he got home, we also had fish and chip supper which is a very British Friday dinner.
Thought she looked lovely and they both looked very happy.

I kept thinking about Victoria Beckham sat there for 4 hours and needing to pee as she's heavily pregnant!!!
I love in London so the wedding hoopla has been around me for the las week. Bunting EVERYWHERE!!!People have gone wedding crazy!!! There is no way I would have camped on the streets!!!
I did watch it ... even made my husband watch it!!! Gave us an extra bank holiday which was pretty nice.

I am with you notsosicklygirl. I didn't watch it - and I was up early enough. I was actually so frustrated because I couldn't find a news channel that wasn't running it! There was no local new, no weather or traffic report - nothing except the darn wedding.

I wish them well, but really, they are just like any other couple getting married. Though, during my flipping through channels to try to find actual news, I did notice how beautiful the church was, and also her sister's dress - I think I liked that dress more than the bride's dress!

And I am also pretty sure that there were no UCer's in the crowd - unless they were in remission.

tori - Did you see Victoria Beckham's shoes? I didn't see the wedding but I saw some photos of her online. I can't believe she was pregnant in those 5 inch Loubiutons. They looked painful.

panda - I wouldn't brave a place like that while flared up. Not a place for a pooper.

London is 2hours by train from my house, i really wanted to be there but i didn't because of the same reason that every one is talking bout here.

There is no hope that i cant survive without a toilet for 4 hours. some of my mates were there since 5 am to be in the front lines. i was trying to convince my self that i can handle it but FINALLY i said no. If something happen there, that is gonna be the most disgraceful incident that could happen to me in my whole entire life. ( I'm sure you know what I'm trying to say )......................................

It was something happy and a nice little distraction for me. I love weddings, and this was fun to watch. She was beautiful, and they looked like a very happy couple. The most fun was seeing the hats!

I loved the living trees brought inside W. Abbey at the bride's request. It was really a beautiful ceremony, very traditional. The little bridesmaids & pages were priceless! Speaking of intestines, the late Queen Mum had undergone a colostomy in her 60s, I think, so she lived with a bag for her last 20 or more yrs. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

THanks for that, Old Hat. A friend told me about the Queen Mother's ostomy, but I'd never been able to find any extra info about it.

Do you know why she had it done?

No, I never read the reason why, but it was not due to IBD as far as I know. She was rumored to be somewhat of a tippler, though basically a gracious person. Considering that she shared family & national stress during WW II + her husband's decline from lung cancer, she probably took ill herself but kept it quiet. / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Hmmmm. Chronic constipation, maybe? Or bowel cancer?

She never came across as a sick person, so I agree: I'm guessing it wasn't IBD.
