UC/proctitis without diarrhea

I was curious to know how many people on here either have UC or proctitis and don't have diarrhea as a symptom. If you don't have D, does this mean your disease is on the milder side? I'm wondering why I have normal BM's but still pass some blood with it but I've never had the D.

I have proctitis and I never had diarrhea as one of my symptoms.  I had constipation but never diarrhea.  I had frequent gas.  My GI and Family Doctor both called me and asked me did I have D.  They seemed surprise because I didn't.  My regular doctor said you just had to be different.lol When I had a BM I would have blood and mucus.  Sometimes when I thought I had to have a BM I would just have gas and the blood would drip in the toliet.  As for your question if you don't have D is your disease on the mild side.  When the GI got my report back it had severe proctitis.

i never had D before diagnose. nor blood.
I was the guy that could mix grapes, plums, apples, have 2 beers, 1 litre of milk, then some meat and no D at all...
But ulceration was there, in my rectum.
Then gas, pain, bloating started...


after starting the medication and also starting changing my diet D appeared more often. i learned how to manage it through diet.

so UC is possible without D.

Even though I was originally diagnosed with pancolitis, I haven't had diarrhea for years, even though I have been flaring for the past year. I can have up to 10 BMs a day, fully formed with a little bit of mucous, sometimes bloody.

I have experienced both pancolitis with diarrhea and proctosigmoiditis without diarrhea. Pancolitis is more devastating because you become dehydrated, it can be hard to eat and you can get really weak and sickly.

With the proctosigmoiditis, My appetite is fine, my weight is stable and I feel OK. The main symptoms are frequent trips to the bathroom, sometimes with horrible urgency, and terrible unrelenting gas.

When my inflammation is mild and low it causes D. When I had a major flare last year that involved my whole colon I had D. So, for me, it depends where my inflammation is! :o)

I have mild UP, no D.

Like many others here, I too have proctitis without D. Blood and mucous and gas, YES. Occasional D if I eat an abundance of veggies.

This was not the case when I was on Asacol -- I don't think I had a single well-formed stool the entire time. Oh, and worse gas and cramping to boot. But that was all from the medication; now that I'm off the Asacol and on sfRowasa the D has pretty much completely gone away (although the blood/mucous hasn't diminished much).
