Conspiracy theories aside, one really has to be pro-active if they wish to police the foods they eat. For example, my husband is a big gardener- so all Summer long, we have fresh grown organic veggies. I can & preserve as much as possible, so we're eating the stuff year-round. When grocery shopping, I buy some organic stuff, but not all- it's just too expensive to eat strictly organic. And organic in & of itself doesn't necessarily mean healthy. I tend to avoid GMO food, they freak me out a little. I have no idea if they are a health risk, & it's probably too early to tell. I buy meat from local farms- will not support factory farming in any way. It's pretty easy to eat what you feel is "ok" for yourself- just be vigilant & it becomes second nature. I don't think the American govt. is evil, but they do seem to be a little clueless. I make my own kefir, my grains are the most viable & healthy in the area, & I always give the away for free. But go figure, I still suffer from UC symptoms pretty much daily. So overall, making wise food choices is indeed smart for a whole host of reasons, but there's no guarantee it will have any effect, good or bad, on a chronic illness or disease.
"Conspiracy theory" or "nut-job conspiracy theorists" are --the-- token terms used by the Media/GOV when you disagree with something they are propagating. FYI.... Please keep in mind that there are such things as conspiracies, as the FBI arrest people constantly for conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to do this, that, etc.,.. there are conspiracies and there are conspiracy facts.
Just curious, how do you avoid GMO foods in the grocery store?
Also, you say, "So overall, making wise food choices is indeed smart for a whole host of reasons, but there's no guarantee it will have any effect, good or bad, on a chronic illness or disease."
Makes me just want to say to heck with it!!! and just eat all McDonald's from now on, you know, since there's no guarantee or anything. Do you honestly think the medical and pharmaceutical industries are going to allow the FDA or anyone else to make a *guarantee* that eating healthy and taking vitamins is going to improve your disease or illness? ****!!! Don't take vitamins or probiotics, then, because on the label, there's no guarantee those work, either.
