double loop ileostomy help

I just got my double loop ileostomy about 2 weeks ago (2nd stage in j pouch procedure) and i have no idea how to put an appliance on it! with my old end ileostomy, the feces came out of the top, keeping the edges relatively clean. However, now the opening is right next to my skin so the feces go right under my wafer! I have a huge, bleeding rash that is very painful, please help!

Hi blueeyes, and welcome to HW!

Congrats on your surgery, and I hope it all works out well for you!

We have a few people here who have had surgery, but most of the folks on the UC forum have active UC - in other words, they still have their colons. I hope some of our post-surgical people come to your aid; otherwise, I might suggest you could ask for advice on HW's ostomy forum?

I really struggled with the loop ileostomy. I also had the bleeding raw skin - a real nightmare. What I found to work was a convexity type (cone shaped inward towards the stoma) plate 2 piece system and I always needed to use an ostomy belt to keep it tight on me to stop the leaking.
