just went down to 5mg of pred on Monday and have just seen my chin begin to reappear today (was at 10mg for two weeks before then). I am so excited! I am tired of looking like a chipmunk!

Beth - That's wonderful. I am waiting for mine to reappear. I have been off pred for a month or so but I still have a bit of a double chin. This was the worst part of pred for me. The weight gain was terrible too but having a double chin is just unbearable. I feel so disgusting. I hope it goes away soon. I think I was on ppred for so long, it could take 6 months to go away fully.

Congrats! I just lost the 10lbs I put on with pred back in Dec/Nov, so I feel your excitement...seems to always take longer coming off than it does going on :D.

I am gaining weight (didn't need to!!!) big time since I started my homeopathic routine and have been doing great UC wise... when food just doesn't go right through it makes it easy to pack it on, hard to adjust my eating habits!! Can't win it seems.

NSG - It took a long time for me being at 10mg the last time for my face to get close to normal, I had been on pred for 3 years at that point and stayed at 10 for about
a year, I got off it in Jan and went back on it in March and that's when my face exploded in every direction (20mg orally and 100mg enemas), I was waiting for horns to sprout.

Beth I share your Joy! I too was on prednisone for 7 months and felt like a mutant...cross between a chipmunk and wolverine with all this hair growing on my face!! Glamorous!! Thankfully all back to normal now and am not scaring small children when I'm out in public anymore!!
Here's to a steroid free life!!!

lol Beth. How long do you think before I get a chin? I was on a short course that turned into a year!!! I've been off for a month but still no chin. What do I do?

I don't think there's anything one can do to eliminate moonface except to avoid heavily-salted food while on Pred & soothe excessive Pred-induced hunger with low-calorie snacks only in hopes of limiting its expansion. (Alas!) For us females, the chin tends to become a problem area anyway as we move into 30s & beyond. (Reason the celebs get facelifts, etc. -- lol!) But good luck, Beth, with the Remi-- and getting off Pred entirely, which will be a huge help. Keep us posted! / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

The Pred related hunger is killer. I swear I've tripled our food budget over the past couple of months. I need to start clipping coupons to pay for my daily feedbag.

NSG - My theory is that it takes half the time you were on it before getting down to 10mg to begin to see results. For example I was on the 20 + 100 for about
3 weeks, once I got down to 10mg it took about
2 weeks to notice a change for the better.
I have been up and down on the pred for almost 4 years, while at 10mg I don't have the chipmunk/Wolverine (Mari ; )
Old Hat - Thanks for the encouragement!!!
Indy - I hear you, while I was eating food I was thinking about
what I could eat next.
