Has anyone been to an integrative medicine doctor?

This would be doctors trained at programs like the one run by Dr. Weil at the UofA school of medicine.

My only doc right now is an integrative med/alternative MD, because my GI and I parted ways when he was too pigheaded to accept my wanting to continue with helminthic therapy (though I have since stopped it) and couldnt accept that I, not he, was the boss for my healthcare. I am slowly shopping around for an open minded GI but am not holding my breath- I have a cordial relationship with a CR surgeon, though, in case it ever comes to chop chop.

My kids see a pediatrician who's an Integrative Medicine doctor. She was trained at Dr. Weil's school. There used to be an adult Integrative doctor at that same practice that I saw. He was a wonderful doctor. Unfortunately, he and his family moved out of state.

I'm trying a new Integrative Medicine doctor(also trained by Dr. Weil) recommended by my kids pediatrician. I have an appt at the end of this month. I'm hopeful that they will be able to at the very least give me some ideas on how to stay in remission and bolster my immune system. I'm sure the main goal will be to better manage stress and eat healthy.

I saw my regular GI doctor yesterday. I asked about LDN and as expected, he seemed annoyed that I would bring that up. This is also the same guy that told me diet has no effect on my condition. I also told my GI yesterday that I had recently developed a lot of trapped gas and some severe bloating. He just blew me off and told me he didn't what was causing this. It isn't my proctitis. I can accept that its not my proctitis, but since he's a GI doctor, he should be investigating what's causing the severe bloating. This is why a lot of people look to Integrative doctors or naturopaths for help. Many of these conventional medicine doctors just blow us off and don't really help us.

Chrissy72, I was diagnosed with Chronic Proctitis a couple of years ago, after a couple of years, I noticed being more gassy, and more gurgling...sometimes the gas feels like ( I know this is going to sound weird) a baby kicking...LOL...anyway, after my two year mark and a flare up, went to my GI doc and have been upgraded to Ulcerative Colitis...might be that yours is spreading?? You need a new Gastro Doc...mine is wonderful and treats me and my concerns/treatment options with the utmost respect. Your doc sounds like a douche...no offense..any GI doctor that doesn't know why you are having gas and bloating doesn't sound like he knows squat in intestinal disorders...lol.

what was the cost to go to an integrative MD?

One person told me they paid $700 for an initial evaluation but they have a different medical problem

I tried going a different route at one point and focused on diet and went for accupuncture. All it did was cost me a ton of money and it got me no where...in fact I got much worse. Maybe I'm just not open minded enough for that kind of healing. I know it really works for some people. I am way better off now that I had surgery. No more drugs, no more doctors and no special diet. :)

The Integrative medicine doctor I saw took my insurance (CIGNA). They just acted as my primary care doctor. The new one I have an appt with coming up also takes me insurance.

Thanks for the reply Chrissy. If they accept my insurance, I have cigna too, I don't see any reason not to go. For me, the problem is that I am sick of going to doctors. I have to get weekly blood work right now for 6mp and I am so busy, it is difficult to fit all these doctor trips into the agenda. I will look into seeing an integrative md, it may be helpful. I am interested in alternative therapies.
