Hello! It's been a long time since I've last posted on this forum. :) I've had UC for the past 12 years and have been in remission despite the occasional bouts of ibs. My doctor wants me to start Nuvaring to control my hormones, etc. I am curious if anyone who has UC also uses the nuvaring. If you do use it, how do you feel? Does it feel irritating in any way? Does it affect your uc and/or ibs? Any other symptoms?

I do not use nuvaring but I do take birth control pills and I am not sure whether they have an impact on my UC symptoms. I've was on the pill before I started having UC symptoms. A friend of mine used the ring for a while and she loved it. She said it was very easy and that she didn't feel it at all. I am leaning towards an IUD.

I use the Nuva ring and I love it. It does not affect my UC at all. It's great not having to worry about taking a pill every day. It seems like it would fall out and not be comfortable just by looking at it, but I forget it's there most of the time and its never fallen out. I don't try and understand how it works I just accept it lol. My periods are short and come at the exact same time every month. I actually switched from the pill because I was told the birth control pill may not be effective if you experience a lot of diarrhea.

I wish I would have seen this thread sooner! I started the Nuvaring in February and was very hesitant about its effects, as I was in the middle of a flare...I achieved remission after a 15 month flare about three weeks after starting. Related? I don't know. But it is a happy coincidence. How is it going for you? Curious to see your response to it....

I used the Nuvaring for a few months and had trouble keeping it in because I was going to the bathroom so much. I just got sick of constantly having to shove it back in. But much better than the pill for side effects.
