tournevice, I think you can expect to see more results over time. The reduction of gas is a good sign but you're still having a lot of BMs. Do you have cramping? Do you have urgency? Oral medications can only reach so far into the colon, if your UC is active below where the oral meds reach, it can casue you all sorts of problems. You really should be using some kind of rectal med along with Pentasa to help heal the rectum. Has you GI ever mentioned this?
When I started Asacol (may be a medication worth trying if you can get samples), I saw results pretty quickly. I went from going 15x a day with loose, bloody, mucus, gas, cramping to 2 formed stools a day within 2 weeks - I was only going once with no urgency at all a few weeks later! Everyone has different experiences and you have to find what will work for you. If Pentasa isn't the perfect drug, perhaps Lialda is or Apriso or Colazal. What type of UC do you have? Is it pancolitis or limited?
Regardless, I think a rectal medication may help you decrease frequency.
