Product thats changed my UC Life

Hi Guys,

I know its a bit of a strong thread name but it really has. I'm in Australia and this is a New Zealand product.

History:
I've had UC for 4 years (after stopping smoking) and i've had 4 major flares in that time. I'm on Pentasa Granules twice a day and had previously used Prendezone (?spelling) to relieve the flares. The last flare I had (30 urgent movements a day/night) I used pentasa and Nicotine patches to ease it back to a lower level of 20 movements a day and with less urgency most of the time. With the prolonged nicotine patch use i eased it back to about 10-15 times a day.

My brother gave me a bottle of Manuka Honey for my birthday to try. Upon having about 1.5 table spoons each morning i noticed a change in about a week and its been continuing for the last 2 months. I have probably 2-4 movements a day and they are non urgent. Its made a HUGE difference to me and i stopped the patches after a week or so of the honey and had no change to my remission.

I can't say how much of a relief this has been and how i hope that it will continue into the future. I also hope that people in America can get this product cause its worked so well. There was a previous thread here about Manuka honey. Some felt it was positive for them too. Although I didn't post I've tried it (whole jar over a few weeks) and had no effects, positive or negative to report. I use regular honey every day and no other sugar type, perhaps I'm already getting the benefits of wildflower honey, I dunno.

Glad you got better, it does seem like a good idea and not too expensive to try in my case since honey is part of my diet. Mine came from Amazon.

I  looked into the benefits of Manuka honey and found it's supposed to inhance the immune system.  Wouldn't that be a no-no for us?

I have also tried it with no positive or negative changes. I have heard that it works for some though.

It's not a miracle food, but I would consume it for liking it. It is honey, and honey can cause diarrhea in some.

I am a USA exchange student in Australia with colitis and I discovered active manuka honey while I am down unda.

Active Manuka Honey is pretty amazing. It's one of the only things that can cure external MRCA wounds. Just look it up.

Yep thats right, you rub this honey on your cuts and it makes your booboos goes away, its amazing. It also has a fantastic repulation for curing ulcers.

The thing is you need to look for the UMF rating on the honey. They go from anywhere from 5+ all the way to I believe 30+. According to Dr. Peter Molan's website, head researcher of the benefits of active manuka honey, up to 15+ is good for external, however for internal (our case) 16-18+ is necessary to achieve desired affects.

I have been using the Australian By Nature Active Manuka Honey 20+ for the last couple months and I have noticed a huge improvement. I have had pretty bad flares with 10+ BM's a day... I have some manuka honey on a slice of bread 20 minutes with a glass of water before a slice of toast with pb about 3 times a day when I flare.... That's it for food.

You will notice a dramatic decrease in bleeding and going to the bathroom. My colitis is practically back in remission, and I also notice a large regulation in my digestive system when using the honey. For instance I feel way less bloated after I eat a meal... And I can practically rely on only using the bathroom in the morning...

I have also noticed manuka honey makes consuming alcohol (not beer) much easier on the body. I usually have a slice of bread with honey before going out to drink. When I drink I make sure to drink 1 glass of water per every drink, and when I return home I make sure to have another piece of honey before bed.

Putting the honey in a hot glass of calmamile or ginger tea before bed along with a slice of bread is extremely beneficial to me during flares.

One last comment about the immune system, I have not even had one cold or infection or anything since I have been using it, even with winter rolling around right now.

Try it, it will only hurt your wallet more than you if it doesn't work

Lol.. Old mate above is a little extreme.. But all i can tell you is my experience.. If you can't believe it or don't want to your choice, i only wanted to share it so that it might help some other people..

I took manuka honey and it's no different from any other type of honey I have taken.

It's extremely expensive and I think that its just a money making scam as it's no different from any other type of honey
