I am so tired of not liking what I see in the toilet bowl and I get really upset. So for the next week I am not going to look, I don't want to know.......I am losing it emotionally and just need a break. I am going to try to pretend I don't have UC.

Good call, you need the rest.
One day you'll be better.
Best wishes.

Surely you jest?
I do. No other way to know for sure how the colon works.

I look, take note and flush. Besides, one should check to make sure there are no lingerers or skid marks after the flush..lol.
What part of the stool formation are you freaking out about
?

I have tried to not look. It's very hard to be so disciplined. I woud have to look at the paper even if I didn't look in the toilet. Keep thinking positive Beth. I've had some really bad days where I thought I was definitely headed for a flare and a few days later, I've been fine. One bad day (or one bad poop) doesn't mean much!

I haven't actually thought this through all the way....I do want a clean bum so will have to check the tp so I don't get bum crumbs!
Q -everything....if it's not formed as well as my last poop, if it's orange and looks close to red, if I think I see a bit of red. I actually stand up and look around there, I almost wish I could scoop it out and put it under a microscope.....almost...... I am going insane!

In my pre-UC days I was a staunch non-poop-looker; I would flush before my innate tendencies took over! So sometimes when I'm down about
my poops, I pretend like there is no reason to look, if only for a few days. It takes me back to the good old days and I can at least save myself the post bathroom anxiety attacks.
Hang in there Beth! Positive intentions can only help our condition. Keep smiling.

With us, it's hard not too look. Even me and I'm in remission. But all the power to you, Beth. :)

I'm so used to seeing poos now that I make the same face expression when I see my gf who lives 5 hours away.

HAHAHA LOVE this topic. I can totally relate. I go back and forth on looking and not looking anymore. I love this forum and being able to relate to so many people. And hearing other people going through the same things as me.

I always look whether during a flare, or not. Just seeing how things are....Plus, the nurses always ask about
them, so I always know how to answer that question! LOL!

It may very well be gross, but it's natural to look at your poop (unless you're pooping in the dark)...with having an IBD your docs would cringe if you told them you weren't looking at your poop...they rely on us to look at our poop to note any changes (colour, texture, shape, blood, ect) so they can continue to assess things for us. So medically it is important to check out your poops. To be honest I've had some very proud poops for a while now so I'm happier seeing what I'm producing now compared to 7 or so yrs ago....one of my recent poops was soooo long and strong that it curled into what looked like a candy cane and was poking somewhat out of the toilet water.
