Four more hours until the doctor's appointment I've been counting down to for the last couple weeks. Yay! Although now I'm a little worried that she's going to want to up my prednisone or something because of the bout of diarrhea this morning I seemed to have successfully cut off with some Immodium.
Well I'm pretty sure it was from my lunch yesterday. The only food trigger I've been able to find is these really good wheat noodles from a certain Chinese restaurant. I don't eat them often but last time I did as an experiment and the next day it got me.
Well yesterday I ordered takeout for lunch from a different Chinese restaurant. Due to a miscommunication on the phone instead of my fried rice I got some kind of wheat noodle based dish, and ate it all.
If I had an intolerance to gluten/wheat, I should have this problem when I eat bread or pasta too right? But if it's an issue with Chinese food, I wouldn't be able to eat fried rice and strawberry chicken!
Weird. I wonder if I can convince two restaurants to give me their ingredient list to see if there's anything in common. For that matter, I wonder what I actually ate yesterday!

Try not to confuse food symptoms with UC symptoms.
If I ate Chinese, I would expect a change in stool consistency the day after and definitely gas since there's usually broccoli, cauliflower or bok choy in dishes I order...almost every time.
Plus, I tend to eat more Chinese in one sitting..
Please ask your doc about
rectal meds if you're not on them...hope the appt goes well.
Keep us posted!

If you had time I would just ask for the ingredients, wouldn't hurt. Then if you see a common one, you could ask your Dr. to do a blood specific test for the food. If you find out you have an allergy, you can avoid it. And if you don't, then you don't have to worry.
Good luck!

Could the problem be MSG? I've had trouble with that in the past. Just a thought....

@smitharoo: MSG problems are pretty rare, many healthy people who believe everything they hear read that MSG is "bad" and immediately blame any headaches or stomach aches after eating on it.
Of course I'm talking about
non-IBD people, it seems like any allergies/intolerances are more common across the board in people with IBD.
But from what I've read actual MSG allergy/intolerance is rare. I think people who have MSG problems generally complain of migraines and such more than GI-related issues when they consume it.
Anyways, Hope you find the culprit!

I'm not sure if Doc told me to stay away from Chinese or if it is something I discovered. I know it is kind of related, but I know I'm supposed to stay away from foods that are fried, which often times Chinese food is. And I've also discovered, but never tested, that I do better when NOT eating gluten products. I haven't gone full 100% gluten free, but as I say lean that way.
