I love this forum! I have gotten so many good answers to questions and great advice. I feel at home talking to all you fellow Ucer's about all the complications that come with this mess more so than talking to friends. I have read on several posts about neck pain... Well, I thought I was sleeping wrong or stressed while I was sleeping causing the neck pain and stiffness... but it is becoming almost an everyday thing now. I have a great pillow so I know that is not it. Can anyone shed some light on this? And does it go away?

I have neck problems since forever...not related to UC.

If you think yours is...see a rheumatologist who can do tests to see if you have markers suggesting it's related to UC...

I have terrible neck pain. I am not sure which came first, the neck pain or the UC but I have always wondered if they are related. I think I have cervical neck pain. I bought a cervical neck pillow and it didn't help much at all. Some days it's really stiff and uncomfortable and other days it's fine. I also have TMJ and migraines and I notice all of these conditions seen to act up at the same time, though sometimes I have the neck pain and no other issues. I think anxiety also plays a role in the tightness in my neck. I would love to find the answer to this problem, it is so uncomfortable.

Please don't rule out getting checked for Lyme's disease. I started out with neck pain, then knee pain, panic attacks, fatigue really bad and I tested positive for Lyme's.  I have UC too. You have to have a Western Blot test that reveal "bands" for lyme's not a standard test from your MD. Just thought I would share. Often it's the last thing tested for and normally you have to ask for getting tested, it not often recommended.

I have the exact same problem. My whole cervical region around C7 is always so puffy and inflamed; same with my shoulders and the whole scapular region. It's quite painful and stiff. I talked to my doctor about this and she said it is a side effect of the Prednisone I'm taking. I don't know if you're taking Prednisone but it could be a side effect possibly. I'm going to book an appointment with her and see if she can shed some more light on this situation.

i have neck, shoulder,back , leg pains , for over 10years. i had a lot of test
blood work , scans and x-rays done. i was told i had Fibromaliga .
a lot of people with UC have Fibro also.
i believe all this ties in together including anxity.

Pred could cause extra stiffness just about anywhere. It gave me fits when I was on it. If its not pred related I would see a chiropractor. I have about 80% success rate with getting my cervical spine cases better. Lady I am seeing now had also been up to Cleveland Clinic "done every test" with no answers and it's took me a few weeks but she is getting better. Not sure why we are left as last resort, but I've got use to it over the years. I do rehab out of the office too so I am not the normal chiro. Good Luck in finding an answer!
