Hi all! Last Thursday I had my first flex sig. If you saw my pervious post it was not pleasant! I knew I had major proctitis inflammation and they ended up having to knock me out about
2 seconds in b/c it was so painful.
Anyway got the report from the doctor today.
"The procedure showed inflammation to the level of 20 cm. with normal tissue above that. Thus, there does not appear to be any extension of disease. Grossly, the inflammation looks to be severe, but biopsies have shown it to be moderate."
So basically I still have proctitis (duh), looked severe on scope but biopsies showed moderate?? Just want to be sure!
Hanging in there w/ cort enemas. I have seen a drastic decrease in blood. Hoping to continue a decrease of urgency and mucous soon. Think today is day 8 of the enemas. Tapered down to 25 mg pred. orally. Having a time w/ my knees. It has been 90+ and high humidity where I live for weeks. After being on my feet all day my knees are swollen and painful. Ugh. No fun!
Thanks as always for the help!

Sounds like the enemas are getting things under control in combo...maybe you can switch to mesalamine enemas once things settle down a bit more.
I've also seem discrepancies between visual assessment and pathology; normally pathology prevails...

My symptoms are alwyas severe but my inflammation tends to be mild to moderate. It's very strange. My GI has mentioned that I could have IBS with IBD and that could cause the symptoms to be more severe.
Hope you heal quickly. It sounds like you're getting close.

Thanks! It was crazy how red the inflammation was on the screen, then he made the turn and the tissue looked so healthy.
Still dealing w/ a lot of mucous and urgency in the evenings (back and forth back and forth). Bleeding still on the decline. I've added a canasa in the am just to make sure I'm getting the very bottom of the rectum. One other great benefit is I'm no longer super constipated. Slowly but surely!
Thanks as always for the help!
