Stress is the number one trigger for my UC flare-ups, and I'm not a woman.

I think stress is a well-known trigger for many, in addition to food for some. I interviewed my GI do during the colonscopy on Wednesday, because I was more or less awake during the procedure. He has changed his mind during the 11 years he has been my GI doc, and now acknowledges that stress and food, for example, play a part in the UC life.

The triggers appear to include a variety of factors, including quitting smoking and childbearing.

Weird disease, both UC and Crohn's.

Yes, for me Stress is a big factor in flares...

I went to see my GI a few days ago and asked him to write out a script "NO STRESS", and he laughed at me. I told him I was serious! But he didn't want to write me the script, haha... too bad, it would come in so handy :-)

Many years ago UC was called the worriers disease.

i should learn how to worry less :) but it probably comes down with age. i hope...

I am definitely a worrier! I've been trying to worry less but nothing seems to help.

Yup any stress or anxiety my UC is very unhappy. Stress will effect a lot of diseases to flare or start up unfortantly :-(

the irony is that UC itself enhances the stress, which in turn causes UC to cause more problems, which in turn causes more stress etc. etc.
