HGH, testosterone and ulcerative colitis

i have been seeing an alternative doctor about my general health (fatigue,weakness, lack of sexual interest etc)

and tests were done that revealed i had testosterone that was only 10.7 (normal range is between 12 - 35) especially low for someone my age

my HGH levels were also slightly low for someone my age.

the doctor wants to give me transdermal testosterone treatment called the wiley protocol and to start HGH injections.

he believes a combination of this will help my overall wellbeing, strength, help me gain weight and lean muscle aswell as possibly help me get out of my current flare and generally feel better.

the HGH and testosterone would also be used to treat my osteoporosis and hopefully reverse it

what does everyone think? should i take the HGH or is it just a waste of money

hmmm... I remember there was a post a while ago on the use of HGH to treat UC. Not sure what the result was though... I found this particular post interesting since I am an Australian citizen...

It will be beneficial. Your lucky your doctor is going to do this and appreciate it, as some of us like me have garbage incompentent doctors and have to source everything ourselves lol.

I suggest you ask your doctor to check your piturity gland as if your test AND growth is not functioning that kind of rings alarm bells on your piturity. You'll need an MRI scan of your head to confirm this though.

Def go for the treatment though.

the thing is i'm currently taking so much medication and doing so many things, im kind of fed up.

i understand that HGH takes quite a while before it actually starts working and i almost feel like i can't be bothered with it unless it's going to show results straight away...

i'm definitely going with the testosterone gel though, do you think i should use the test for a few months first and see how i feel just on that?

To be honest no.
If your growth is low your only 19 this isn't good. This will have an effect on everything in your body from skin, hair, nails to bones, joints, tendons, collagen ETC ETC.

So going on growth will help your bones since you have osteoporosis. I am getting bad bone issues due to the prednisone. Look into also taking cissus. The gh is free buddy and I'd take it LOL! but seriously it will help you over the long term, and wouldn't worry your not going to suffer from any side effects from it since it will most likely be quite low dose.

Also the test gel is ok nothing fantastic, it will work slowly to bring test levels up so you will feel better over the weeks of use, nothing amazing but an improvement on how you currently feel.

I agree with T and HGH but not at 19 years of age.

I had a 4-hour MRI/MRV to determine that my stroke was completely resolved and to get me off blood thinners early.

They said everything was resolved, brain normal for age and weight and noted mucosal thickening present in sinus cavities - might they have also noted a problem with the pituitary gland since they were conducting an inventory of anything abnormal ?

Seems likely to me that I can rule out any funny business with my pituitary gland.

Well I had my piturity checked and it came back it was not damaged at all, however it was "asleep". I put this down to prednisone and as a result it's caused me to have low test and what I may also assume low growth hormone but I need to get that checked out.
19 years of age matters not really, it's more dangerous for him to be producing very low levels of test and hgh at that age then to have them bumped up to what would be normal levels. It's not as if he's going to be overdoing it as the doctor will be supervising.

Low test is not only linked with osteoporisis but also with heart problems, fertility issues, and not to mention he's 19 and it's embaressing? Ontop of that the low growth output will affect everything including tissue repair within the body which could affect colitis I don't know. Better to have them supplemented to normal levels than left low...

Wow I'd jump at the chance you have to take it. Consider yourself lucky that your doctor is willing to prescribe you this stuff. With normal test levels you will feel a ton better and the HGH will repair some of the UC damage. I dont know how long you have to take it to get bone growth but it will do that too and hopefully heal up some of the osteoperosis damage.

what's the best med to take to promote bone growth from the bone mass loss due to flare ups/prednisone uses?

about 3 years ago I had the same issues - fatigue, loss of sexual desire, panic attacks, etc... I had bloodwork done that showed very low testosterone, and very high prolactin levels... I had an MRI and they found a tumor on my pituitary gland....it was non cancerous, but it was a hormone producing tumor..... I had endonasal surgery to have it removed. In a month, my testosterone was back to normal, prolactin back down, and my wife and I were finally able to have kids.

Check into a pituitary tumor called a "Prolactinoma"....worth a shot.

What I am wondering is - would a 4-hour MRI of the head ( for other medical reasons ) point out irregularities with the pituitary ? I think it would. Since they listed things unrelated to the reason for the MRI I would be surprised if they were not also making basic checks on the size and shape of the pituitary gland.

Not necessarily....it depends on where they focused. I had an MRI a few years before due to an injury....never saw the pituitary tumor, which I had been told afterward that I must have had for "quite some time"....they ordered a special high contrast MRI for the pit tumor....blood work is why they focused particularly on the pituitary....so unless they are looking for it specifically, they may not see it... IMO...

Good counterpoint. Still with mine being 4 hours MRI and MRV ( vascular layer ) as they examined the out flow of blood from the brain where a clot had formed they were also on the front side noting that my sinuses were inflamed. 1) Thrombus resolved 2) Brain normal 3) Chronic sinus inflammatory changes again noted, no fluid levels to suggest acute sinusitus.

Seems like for the $10k they went all over front to back of the head. Maybe I should ring up the Neurologist and ask him if they would have checked the pituitary or the Diagnostic lab I just paid off.
