Aah ton of blood :(

So just posted earlier this week I thought I was finally improving. Down to 3-4 formed bms in the am. 2-3 mucus trips in afternoon/pm. Until today. Morning started off good. Formed, solid, no blood or urgency bms. I did go 4 times this morning but I had salad yesterday which tends to get things moving a bit more for me (only occasionally eat salad). Anyway we came out of town for night. Got to hotel and felt like I had to go. As with my typical afternoon expected just a bit of brownish mucus. However the toliet was full of red blood. I am trying not to freak out. I am so upset. I don't see what could have changed so quickly. I've been keeping up and doing the Cort enemas every night. Nothing else has changed.

Any thoughts?? Sorry I'm having a freak out moment...

Just finished round of oral pred about 10 days ago. It used to help in past but didn't see any benefit from this last time. Yes I retain the enemas all night. I'm on the start of my 6th box. So have done 5 weeks give or take.

I know I shouldn't get so upset but it was so shocking after barely seeing any blood for weeks.

You're telling me... My first few weeks off prednisone were so up and down, I would inspect what was in the bowl each time I went. I would worry if it was slightlly softer or if there was more mucous or even the tiniest hint of blood. I just started the medication to help control my anxiety/worrying and things have been so much better, I haven't even inspected what's in the bowl lately. It's incredible.

Has your GI mentioned Remicade? I was so close to starting it before things magically stabilized. How long have you been on Imuran? Have you had blood tests to check whether you're in the theraputic range?

I am sorry for you pink1, I know exactly how you feel. I have had similar experience the past few months. Just had flex sig on 7/21/11 which showed the same as yours, moderate inflammation. I also have an intolerance for mesalasmine products, particularly oral meds. Also the prednisone is a very nasty drug for me, however, some people do tolerate it okay. Currently prescribed Entocort and cortisone suppositories 2x a day. However, I think the suppositories are giving me D. Only been on them for 3 days, so will see how it goes. My doc says my inflammation is definitely all in the bottom of my rear. I found that really soft cooked veggies seem to be better for me than raw veggies until the inflammation has healed. This disease can change so quickly. I hope you find some relief soon. I have previously taken medication for anxiety that helped my UC symptoms tremendously, sometimes I wonder why I quit taking them.

Oh sorry pink1. I remember your thread the other day where you mentioned that your GI was hoping you would start Humira. I don't think you should rush into anything you're not ready for. Just becuase you're having a bad day doesn't necessarily mean things will continue to get worse. I don't think an anti-anxiety would be a bad idea, I feel so much less worried recently, it feels good. I hope your day improves and that tomorrow you're feeling a lot better.

NSSG, what are you taking for anxiety and depression? I swear that's a trigger for UC symptoms. Gentle yoga also good.

Could it be a hemorrhoid? Just hoping for the best case scenario here...
