Fecal Transplantation video (human probiotic infusion) by Prof Borody.

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to share with anyone who is interested in fecal transplantation, and how it works, this video from an Australian current affairs show that was on TV about a week and a half ago. It explains what it is, how it is done and how it works. Very interesting. I have spoken to Prof Borody and his staff and will definitely be trying it in the coming months. Also starting, after much resistance, Imuran. Here's to a colitis free life!!!

Absolutely Anthony! That's why I went to see them. they have had brilliant results not just from patients with c.difficile but also great results for patients with colitis. being in remission at the moment, I want to stay as healthy as possible and they tell me that i'm in a good position to do the treatment. As with any treatment it may not work for some, but as far as they can tell me, no-one has gotten worse from it! Worth a try.

Hey Anthony, yes I live in Oz and have just gone through their fee schedule. Colonoscopy (which includes 1st infusion I think) is $1200, plus $1700 for 1st week of infusions, If you need more the cost obviously would be higher. Also if you don't have your own donor there is an added cost to use one of their donors.I believe the treatment is not covered by medicare or health fund rebate that's why I'm waiting a couple of months to save for the procedure. If you can do the infusion at home (they provide the enemas and tubing) you just do the 1st treatment and colonoscopy at the centre and the rest at home and that saves you a whole lot of cash!!! They screen you and your donor before they start the treatment and put you on antibiotics a week before.

Prof Borody is super hard to see (I waited 8 months) but ended up having a 1 and 1/2 hr consult with him!!! But after 1st consult you go through his nurse who runs you through the whole procedure and she's easier to get an appointment with.

mari68 do you live in Sydney? I live in Aust too but in Melbourne. I am glad to see that they have their own donors, because whilst I can find my own donor, I think bringing her along just to use her poo would be quite inconvenient for her. Please let us know how the procedure goes and how the results are. I am more and more inclined to try this procedure myself, especially since the results seem so outstanding.

I was under the impression that Fts worked for c diff, bit not too well for UC, apparently it does more than occasionally?
