"American Idol" contestant launches IBD Icons competition
Former "American Idol" contestant Casey Abrams is raising awareness of inflammatory bowel diseases through his IBD Icons campaign, which gives people the chance to compete for the title of IBD Icon. Abrams, who was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, said he decided it was "an obstacle I had to rise above in order to pursue making music" and added he wants to encourage other people to stay positive and seek help to manage their IBD. I'm thinking about doing this but I've never even heard the guy sing. lol I guess since I'm used to UC maybe it just doesn't seem like a big deal. But, I'm considering it.
Vegas would be kind of fun! haha

It would be interesting to know what he did to get his uc under control and the extent of the uc

Wow, I am surprised he mentioned Remicade. I also find it interesting that he said UCers go 10-14 times a day. Some people go a lot more than that. :)

about a month ago, my daughter who is Casey's age, and I got to meet him through a CCFA sponsered "Meet and Greet". Casey and my daughter were both diagnosed with UC about the same time. There were about 30 people there and he made a point to speak to each person and Casey asked them a bit about their experience with UC. He mostly answered questions about his experience on American Idol and seemed genuinely interested in hearing other people's stories. Surprisingly, no one in the group asked him about what meds he was taking.He left a really nice impression and it is great that he has agreed to be a "face" for UC.

I'm tickled that more and more celebrities are stepping up and talking about IBD! :)
