Just had my first injection of Humira through pen

Just had my first injection. I was really nervous about doing it, never did anything like that before. Going in wasnt bad, the worst part about the whole thing really was probably me psyching myself up about it. I actually put it in my thigh, laid the grey part against it and before i started thinking "is this a good place" i just pressed it without really wanting to. Did not feel the needle go in, did not feel the medicine going in but after it was all in i felt alot of pressure, that was painful, but painful as in, "crap, this hurts but it will be good for me" I'm surprised i did not jump at all though. I am very proud of you dgtracy. I have never given myself an injection but I think I would jump. I do think it is worth it if it helps but the first time has got to be scary. I have never heard of anyone giving themself their first dose, I've always heard of going in to the doctor's office for loading doses like Sweetie described. Did you already have the loading doses?

I've never heard of this stuff? my gi has never mentioned it anyway. Is it to keep you from flaring up?

@sweetie - i did inject it myself, my training was the DVD that came with the starter kit, it had a practice pen so i just followed the steps in the video and then used a real one to substitute, i only used the one pen ever two weeks, but i am going to call and confirm that.

I was not told anything about loading doses at all....maybe ill call today and get this straightened out.

Just called my doctor and wouldnt you know it, he is out till Thursday, he is doing surgeries this week. His staff said that they would talk with him the next time he calls in and then call me.

They have another one their but oddly enough they wont let her answer for his patients, vise versa.
