Give your kids Advil?

I believe Advil played a large part in me starting to have UC in the first place. As such, I have never given my kids Advil. Just wondering if anyone else on here feels the same or do you think I am being paranoid?

I have given my son advil/ibuprofen, because he's had extremely high fevers with a few viruses that Tylenol didn't touch. And he had horrible pain with teething (his daycare provider, who had been in daycare for over 20 years) said she'd never seen a baby's gums get so swollen before the teeth finally popped through. Ibuprofen was the only thing that reduced the pain enough to let him sleep. So no, Tylenol isn't always as effective.

I don't think you're being paranoid but, I give my daughter advil. Tylenol doesn't lower her fevers well enough, it doesn't last as long and it's not an anti-inflammatory. So, when she was teething for example Tylenol did nothing. I refused to give her those Hyland teething tablets. I do always try Tylenol first, though.

I don't think you're paranoid. I remember countless times going to the dr as a child and him suggesting taking Advil...my mom would then explain how Advil would get me sick for a week after just one dose. (This was many yrs before ever even knowing I had IBD. With that said however there are times when I have to give my son Advil. He gets ear infections from time to time and screams in pain and Tylenol does nothing...thirty minutes after children Advil he's back to his normal self. And its funny because I do opt for Tylenol much more often such as teething...and it causes diarrhea as well. Whether its the Tylenol or the teething I cant say but my son never gets sick from Advil....but I sure do!
