Starting Humira Monday

Hi all! Went to see the PA at my GI's office today. My GI actually came and sat in on the appt. too. I decided I was ready to try Humira. 6 months of flaring. I gave the rectal meds a good shot. And I don't want to go back on pred. 40mg did nothing the last time I was on it.

I did the TB and Hep blood tests a month. I have a UTI and 2 days of antibiotics left. They are having me do a urine sample Friday just to make sure it is cleared up. If all is a-go I go in Monday to have the PA give met he 4 starter shots.

I'm nervous and hopeful at the same time!

Sure hope you get some relief with starting Humira..... it sure has done the trick for me.

Is there any particular reason you chose Humira over Remicade?

My GI thought it would be "more convenient" for me. I'm a stay at home mom about a 40 minute drive from his office (where the infusions would be). I'm guessing if the humira doesn't work then we will try the remicade! Thankfully insurance is going to pay. Was little worked since humira isn't approved for UC. Think have $25 co-pay.

That's not bad of a co-pay. Mine costs $20 for a months worth of Humira.
