Can Adderall affect UC?

It was recommended by a doctor that I take adderall.

I told him that I had UC and everything I was taking for that and he said that he didn't think there would be any drug interactions, but to consult with my GI. I haven't been able to get in touch with my GI (long story) so I thought I'd ask here first.

I take Librax, which I know is a benzodiazepine. I don't know if that would interact or have any kind of adverse effect if taken with adderall.

Seems like a lot of questions for something that may or may not be the answer for me. Anyway, I'd appreciate feedback from people who have some sort of experience or knowledge on the matter. Thanks.

I went to www.drugdigest.com and checked for any possible interactions between Librax and Adderall and found none other than not to take Librax with alcohol. You can also talk to your pharmacist and see if they find any possible interactions.

As for Adderall affecting Uc, I can't help you there. My son used to take Adderall but he doesn't have Uc.

I take Adderall, Wellbutrin and Klonopin at night to sleep. Also, 12 asacol a day and mesalamine enemas every other night. No problems with drug interactions according to my Gastro and Psyh Docs.

Wouldn't adderall make it difficult to sleep? I always thought it was a stimulant.

You are right, Adderall is a stimulant but I think that UcVeteran means that he/she(?) take Klonopin at night to help with sleep - perhaps?

My son had to take melatonin to help him sleep when he was on it.

I've been on Adderall for years, well prior to my UC diagnosis 3 years ago. I've failed Remicade and am now on Entyvio- no signs of remission since diagnosis but Entyvio seems to be preventing me from getting worse.

Anyway, no problems with the Adderall other than what may already be obvious. It is a stiumlant and therefore tends to trigger UC symptoms; much like caffeine. I can usually expect a bathroom trip within 20 minutes of taking Adderall but it's worth it in my opinion. It helps offset the fatigue and inability to focus I often experience from having constant diarrhea.

How did you get someone to prescribe it to you? Did you go to a psychiatrist? I went to several doctors years ago because I have a very hard time focusing/concentrating on work but all they ever want to give me is antidepressants, which do not help and I will not take again. I hope the Entyvio ends up working for you.
