I am going to visit family and I have to travel and take my enemas. How do you travel and yet keep some dignity when they want all gells in a clear plastic bag?
Should I send ahead via mail?

The way I figure it, most people aren't going to know what they are (I'd never seen an enema bottle until I used my first mesalamine enema) and/or are far too busy getting their own crap situated to go through security to pay any attention to what's in your bins. As far as TSA agents, I've never had my baggie of enemas inspected separately and I really don't give a rat's ass if they think less of me because I have enemas with me. I figure they've seen plenty of stuff more interesting than enema bottles, too.
I'm not sure I'd send them ahead via mail, because you don't know if they will be handled properly.

I just have visions of them holding them up for everyone to see and embarrassing my tween daughter. I could care less, but she would die. You understand.

Yeah, I can see how your daughter would just DIE (in her opinion!) if that were to happen. I really wouldn't worry about
the TSA agents. I've probably flown 10 times with enemas and it's been a complete non-issue. I do, however, always cut the prescript
ion label off the box and stick it in the baggie, just to show it is indeed a prescript
ion medication in case there is a problem. But not one TSA agent has ever looked at it.

I took them in carry-on luggage and kept them in the box they came in with the Rx label stuck on the outside. Trying to remember if I cut off the foil and rewrapped in ziplock inside box but cannot remember 2 months back lol. Had no trouble with security that way although got patted down in more airports than ever before, USA and Canada. The suitcase was
opened, enema box got looked at and suitcase put through Xray.
The rest of my Rx pills were in my purse, looked like a serious pill taker, maybe that's why they didn't hassle about
the enemas.

I am only going for one weekend and only need to bring one bottle, so I am just going to put it in with the rest of my stuff. Pills and creams, what ever.
I haven't flown in awhile, so I guess I just put everything in a ziplock and then put it in a bin as we go thru security and then put it back into my suitcase or carry on when we are done?
Thanks everybody. Glad to see everyone doing okay. I am still taking mesalmine and balzalaside every day. Enema every other day or so.

if they asked to go through your stuff ask for a private room. they aren't going to just pull it all out anyway. they came up to me and asked to see in my bag before i got on the plane, id already been through security. they just
opened it, looked in and said ok. thats what they did to everyone. i take my supplies with me and dont really want them out for everyone to see, so if they ask i will just ask for a private screening. my bag set got picked up on one of those body scanner things, but it wasnt a big deal i just told them and they had me touch the bag and put my hand on a piece of paper. they didnt ask to look in my bag then.
there are rules about
medical stuff, if it makes you feel better, get a drs note and keep it in the original box.

You only get a quart-sized baggie, so depending on how much stuff you have, the enema bottle might not fit. Medications are NOT subject to that 1 quart limit, so that's why I always put my enemas in a separate baggie. Plus, if it leaks, I really don't want it to get all over my other stuff, since it stains.
But yeah, when you get up to the checkpoint, you pull your baggie of liquids out and place it in the bin for screening and put it away once you're through to the other side. You also have to remove your shoes and coat/jacket, if you're wearing one. Most watches and rings are small enough they don't have to be removed. If you have change or a cell phone in your pocket, those have to come out, too. And laptops have to go in a bin, too, if you have one.
Also, the liquids have to be in a 3 oz size bottle or less, but medications are also not subject to that limit.

I have traveled alot with mine. Both in carry on and in checked. The checked is pretty simple. Carry on I just put it in a separate baggie and keep my prescript
ion with it. Like mentioned above these will not go in same baggie as your small liquids. I have taken up to 8 in carry on before and never had anyone ask. I never took the foil packaging.

I flew internationally in August and I took a sealed box of 7 enemas with a pharmacy label on the box. It was never
opened by any security agents and I was never asked any questions. Sure it said what it was on the box, but I didn't really care.
