I swear I read somewhere that Lomitil works on your large intestine and Immodium on your small, but I can't find reference to that anywhere now to know if it's true, or the other way around.
My doctor told me to try taking Lomotil every day to "slow things down" but I finally realized it was doing more harm than good. Every few days I'd have this really painful, wannabe-diarrhea that was more cramping and waiting than actual poo'ing. I finally figured out that the Lomotil was in fact slowing things down, but since I was still eating and digesting like normal, it was probably collecting near the top, having lots of time to have the water sucked out and get constipated-like, until the "D" signal hit and it all had to make its way down all those yards of intestine.
I stopped the Lomotil on Friday, slept through most of the most weekend as I've been doing, and had a normal bout of diarrhea this morning that I calmed down with a few Immodium. Okay sad that I can use that phrase, "normal bout of diarrhea," but compared to what I was having I'll take it.
Anyway this is a big week for me in that I have a number of times that I have to make sure to be okay for... the biggest being a 3-4 hour (!) meeting with a client who has people flown in from China.... I don't think they'd appreciate me in and out every five minutes, or disappearing for 20.
I don't have time to experiment and figure out what works... I need to just make it work. Thursday morning... I've never had a problem with Immodium, even taking it every day (I did as an experiment, but didn't continue because I didn't want to mask symptoms or realize it was "allowed"), but I learned from the Lomotil experience that to ensure one good day you're just borrowing from another.
I'm wondering if I can load up on both that morning... or the night before... I don't tend to follow a "bad day" with another bad one but I can't predict where those are going to fall. Other things I have to be good for is my pre-Remicade TB test on Wednesday (was today but had to be rescheduled) which means Friday as well to have it checked, and a tattoo art consultation on Saturday.
