JOVIGIRL71,
The protein shakes do not factor in the arthritis at all. And I love my shakes, they are so delicious! I make my protein shakes with almond milk - which is not technically considered dairy.
But through careful food journaling (which I would recommend you do as well), I started to notice a pattern: on days I had salmon & lobster I had no arthritis pain, whereas on days I had chicken I had much more arthritis pain. So I started doing some research and found out about foods high in omega 6 vs omega 3. It's the omega 6 rich foods that are the evil, inflammatory ones!
Did you know that grass fed meats are pretty low in omega 6? So I switched to eating only grass fed meats and lots of fish, along with veggies and fruits of course - and I found that to make a huge difference in the arthritis.
Here's the thread on the topic: https://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=38&p=1&m=2238257#m2238369
If you look at the list, there are cooking oils and other foods (non-meat) that are high in omega 6.
Let me know what correlations you find. Good luck,
