I just need to vent for a second. I started taking fish oil supplements about
a month ago. It was shortly before my last Remicade appt, so I was already not feeling well (we are still playing with the dosage to find the right level that will keep my symptoms in check). Normally, Remicade is my miracle drug. But this last infusion left me still feeling unwell. So I've been researching and I added acidopholis to my morning shot glass of pills. And I've been trying out the sunflower seed butter and spinach diet.
Well, last week, I discovered that one pill of the fish oil each day wasn't nearly enough for a UC patient. So I increased my dose to 6 pills a day. Well, that knocked me out of commission. I couldn't understand why, but I was far worse off after that. I mean REALLY bad. Well, yesterday, for some reason, I happened to glance at the ingredients on the bottle of fish oil pills - and lo and behold, SORBITOL was listed as an ingredient!!!!!
No wonder I have been so sick feeling for the last month! No wonder I've been nearly doubled over in pain this last week! Why in God's name does a supplement need to have an artifitial sweetener in it when it isn't even going to start disolving until AFTER it passes my stomach???? What purpose does that serve???
Shame on me for not reading the ingredients when I bought the supplement. But hopefully now that I found the culprit I'll be able to start getting better again. I wish my next infusion wasn't so far away though (April 30th). I need my miricle drug now. Oy vay.
