Update!
I was diagnosed with severe pan colitis 4 years ago. (aged 44) My disease took a while to control, but eventually Azathioprine seemed to work. Most symptoms were gone or were very mild. Unfortunately my hair began to fall out and I was getting infections easily. I feared the cure may be worse in the long term than UC itself, eg increased cancer risk.
In June 2008 I started on 4.5mg LDN. Within 2 weeks I was symptom free! Even my aching joints had gone.
I am pleased to report that I remain free of ulcerative colitis and my asthma is barely noticeable even when I go on a 5 mile run. This is despite intense stress and pressure at work.
I did have a minor flair around Easter 2011 triggered by antibiotics again! I just needed to know where the nearest toilet was for a few days. ;) It is also likely that I had gotten complacent about
dietary supplements, so since then I have stuck to them religiously.
I am so pleased that I started taking LDN so early in my disease. I wonder if I had intervened later, would LDN have been so successful?
Just recently a neighbour of ours intimated that he had had UC for 12 years and was still visiting the toilet >10 times a day. We put him in contact with Bob Lawrence who has started him on LDN transdermal cream, to rub into his abdomen. He has 3 months supply of this, before he starts on oral LDN. My neighbour has been warned that his symptoms will get worse for a while. At the moment he has become constipated, relief of a kind but painful.
What is upsetting is that we have known our neighbour since 2000. He was too embarrassed to share his indignity with others. Oh how we wish he had spoken to us sooner.
I shall let him have a link to this forum, so he can tell his own story.
