LDN therapy

So Ive been reading about this low dose naltrexone therapy, and want to give it a try. I want to call my Dr about it, but am wondering if he will go for it.

How difficult is it to get a prescription for this, and can I have any stories from those who have used it? How should I sell this to my Dr?

Is this something you continue with indefinitely after remission is achieved? I have been having no luck so far with increasing l-glutamine.

You certainly have nothing to lose by asking your doctor if he would prescribe the LDN for you, no?

I would print out the Dr. Jill Smith studies (do you need the links?) and show it to him. But just don't be disappointed if he says no. My doctor said no, and I had to get it through an osteopath who was referred by Skip's Pharmacy in Boca Raton, FL. If you contact them, they can suggest a local prescribing doctor.

Some do, some don't. Even though I am in remission, I will NOT stop taking LDN, I feel it can prevent other diseases including cancer (from what I've read), and to me there is no down side to regulating the immune system to maximize its potential.

Anway, back to LDN, you'll have to careful with fillers, so make sure whoever prescribes it for you knows about that.

So youre saying you can get this stuff indefinitely without prescription? I have not yet asked my GI, but I have a strong suspicion he will not go for it.

Chispa, have you had any other sides or benefits from this, and are you on any other meds for UC?

I have heard this (LDN) can heighten sexual desire which would be a help to me.

Ok, well if I can get good product without a scipt so much the better. I had trouble getting that pharmacy page to work also, but it could be this machine Im on.

I feel like this could be interesting though, asacol worked for me initially but not doing it now.

One of the values of this blog post, if I may say so, is that it contains a graph that plots the frequency of my (very urgent) runs to the bathroom before and after I started LDN. It is the most dramatic image that I have seen that is based on a single case. Hope you find it to be of interest.

I'm also taking two 400 mg Asacol caplets twice a day. No miracles to be sure but I can tell if I stop taking it. Once I get to remission, I'll be relying on LDN exclusively.

Speaking for myself only, I intend to continue to use LDN as a prophylaxis permanently. It is harmless and inexpensive so I have nothing to lose. On the plus side, LDN will help me guarantee that my immune system stays in optimal shape. The fact that I succumbed to the family tendency to bowel disease in the first place, tells me that my immune system isn't working as well as it should without LDN's help. And, in the process, I'll be creating an environment that is more hostile to cancer cell development. That can't be a bad thing.

David, I feel the same way; I have no intention of stopping my use of LDN.

Old news, Dunie. The credit card problem was with PayPal not All Day Chemist, and PayPal is no longer part of the picture because of it. ReVia brand sold by All Day Chemist, for example, is high quality. There is a lot of bad-mouthing of Indian drugs that is unwarranted. There are individual exceptions, of course, but that's true of American manufacturers too. For example, there have been problems with fillers in some American sources, calcium carbonate has been known to cause problems for some LDN users. You might consult reported experiences on [email protected] on this last point.

All that to one side, my personal experience has been nothing but positive with All Day Chemist.

Finally, this source is important to many who simply cannot obtain a prescription or others whose financial means is so limited that this source is the only practical alternative. I'd ask you to keep this in mind. It is one thing to make a claim supported by objective and unambiguous evidence and quite another to pass rumor that has no such evidentiary foundation. I'm certainly open to evidence but, until it is produced, I'm staying with my source.

Lest anyone get the idea that I'm a shill for All Day Chemist, please be assured that I am not. I'm just very disappointed with American medicine and big pharma

I was wondering about that a little also, but it seems most of the Indian pharmacies are fairly reputable. I was a little concerned about reading how certain companies dont "mix" the drug correctly, or that Id get the slow release dose... I guess Ill have to look into it more closely. The lack of script certainly is much more attractive.
