I had my third Remicade infusion yesterday. Really hoping the cliche is true and 'third time's a charm'.

I seem to be in a pattern where every three days is a "bad" day, and the in betweens I don't go at all and pretty much feel fine. (Not constipated, just don't have to go.) I was "due" tonight and so far so good. Tomorrow (Monday) feels like the day of reckoning.

I will be crossing my fingers for you that your 3rd infusion works like a charm! That is how it went for me too. The 3rd infusion was my magic number :)

     Hate to be a pooper but after my 3rd infusion I developed antibodies to Remicade and suffered a bad flare.  I hung in there and did have a 4th infusion, but no change sad .  I felt the best after my first infusion but I was also on prednisone for that one and my second infusion.  So, basically, it was the prednisone keeping me in remission.  The Remicade, in my case, really did nothing, neither did Humira.

Take it day by day, try not to set too many expectations took me nine months, i had slow progress

I started remicade in July 2009 and I was on pred when I started it and I went off the pred in Nov. 2009 and my symptoms were great.  They have been since I went off the pred.  So, the remicade is helping me but it took me almost two years for my colon to heal.  The doctors wanted me to go off of it.  I said give me awhile longer.  I am glad I did.  My scope last year showed only mild inflammation on the right side of my colon.  I had severe uc throughout my whole colon.  So, my advice give it time, exspecially if your symptoms are alot better.  I hope this works for you.

Well it was pretty heartbreaking Monday... I was fine up until the end of the workday and then it all started at 4:50.

Can I still hope to see improvement between infusions even if it doesn't happen immediately?

Don't know how bad your colon was, but keep in mind how the Remi works: first step is to stop your body from attacking your colon, next step is to give your colon a chance to heal itself.

I'm like you are, I've had two infusions and just a very slight improvement. Holding on to every little bit of hope (don't even read the posts from people telling you it didn't work for them, keep your hopes up for your individual situation).

I love Wimom's comment: remember that our colons need a chance to heal themselves!

No personal experience with Remicade, though known several people who've been on it, and all I know is it takes time. Best vibes.

I've never used it but I would think it would be like any drug and takes some time. The colon doesn't magically get better overnight...much to my dismay. Take a deep breath and give it time. :)

Good luck with your Remicade!

I think that some ppl respond immediately to Remicade but it can also take up to a year. For me, I think my abdominal pain decreased within a few months, but it was more than a year before I went into remission with the other symptoms. I finally started taking some Colazol I had from an old prescription at night, in addition to the Apriso I was already taking in the morning and it cleared up within a couple weeks. I had tried a double dose of Apriso prior to that (they use that in Europe to induce remissions, I think, but I don't think it is approved for this ine the US) but that didn't help. Now I am just on Remicade and Apriso and in remission for 2 years.
