1st case of pouchitis

   Flu-ish symptoms started on Sunday. Last night she was up every other hour (pooping). Our Dr. called in Cipro and she just took the first pill.  I really hope she can keep it down!  We don't know 100% sure it is pouchitis, but she has most of the symptoms.     She keeps saying she wants the bag back, which breaks my heart.  I know she is just scared and she will get through this....hopefully this won't affect her going back to school on January 30th   

I am sorry. Such a downer. She can't catch a break and she was doing so well. I think she's going to be doing great once things are under control. Poor thing.

All signs point to pouchitis :(. She felt a little better after 3 Cipro doses. She hasn't been taking probiotics since her 1st surgery in September, so I want to get her back on probiotics...VSL is so expensive $60 a bottle...our insurance does not cover it. Any recommendations for another probiotic?

as far as a probiotic i was just reading about floraster and jarrows sacch boulardi  which are reportedly very effective when you are taking antibiotics. something to do with it being a yeast based probiotic reisitant to antibiotics?

i had pouchitis right after my take-down, cleared up really fast and no other problems since! I take swans ultimate probiotic. it's super cheap and really good! I take one in the morning and one in the evening. Keeps my gas down too as that is a big problem for me. My stomach is much gurgler since I got my pouch.

sometimes this goes on sale buy one get one as well. i think they may have a 3 pack that's cheaper from time to time too. but its got all the good strains in it. give it a shot. :)

O do i know the bath thing! that's the first thing i did once my incisions were all closed and i got the all clear. baths are soo great! I hope she gets the all clear!
