Not sure what I have exactly

There are people (like you) that don't fit into neat definitions of what to call what you have but a colonoscopy is how doctors decide what to call it and how to treat it. If your last colonoscopy has your doctor calling it IBS that means he couldn't see any IBD and if he took biopsies (did he?) got no report of IBD that wasn't visible in the c-scope.

Where does that leave you? Doctors won't prescribe Rx meds for UC if they can't show that it is UC. But the blood in stools isn't IBS so what is it?

In the past I've said to my doctor "We don't care WHAT you call it, just make it better". But they only have so many tools (meds) at their disposal. If you don't fit in their profiles then you are on your own, which is the way I know I've felt, even though I have a definitive UC diagnosis.

You haven't mentioned trying diet modification, have you tried that? Definitely could help relieve some symptoms. Try eliminating gluten and dairy and see if your symptoms improve. Don't bother with celiac tests or lactose intolerance tests. They are notoriously unreliable. You have to do it yourself by keeping a food journal and keeping track of all food as well as # BM's and D and C. After a month you should see a pattern.

Many people have gotten improvement by eliminating gluten, dairy, all grain, most carbohydrates and starches. What do you eat? protein and non-starchy veggies. Try it for 2 weeks, if you see absolutely no improvement then you'll have to look elsewhere. It's worth a try.

Ive tried a gluten free and lactose free diets to no avail.about 3 colonoscopies ago my gi found 3 ulcers.

While CT scans and MRIs can show inflammation in the small bowel, the best way to look there is a pillcam, or perhaps a newer kind of scope called an upper enteroscopy.

And when you say your DR found 3 ulcers, where were they?

I just want to thank everyone who has responed to my post.It is a comfort to know there are people out there that understand what i'm going through.

     Yes, stress does contribute to flares.  My GI doctor told me it doesn't cause flares but I know every time I was stressed my flares became worse.

If your DR found bowel ulcers in prior scopes what was the diagnosed cause of those ulcers? Ischemic colitis is like a stroke in the colon and would lead to dead tissue I think, not an ulcer. Diverticulitis is an inflammation due to trapped material in small pockets of the bowel wall - again, not an ulcer. Are the antibiotics helping you?

My gi doctor never said what caused the ulcers.The only tests i have been given are ct's,mri,and a slew of colonoscopies.I go for an upper gi test thursday.That was suggested by my primary care physician.My gi doc cant see me till mid february.

My gi doc had me on asacol for over 4 yrs. I have tried to explain my problems to him and he always says the same thing. I have IBS. Yet when I hurt so bad and go to the hospital the doctors there have tols me so many different things I dont know what to do anymore.The last visit to the hospital I was told that my white cell count was a lil high and sent me home with flagyl and cipro.This was after a ct scan.All I want from my doctors is to tell me what's going on and what meds I really need to help my condition.I asked for a H palori virus test since they had my blood anyway and was completely ignored.I asked for this because my half brother has alot of the  same problems as I do and he tested positive for the H palori virus.They have since put him on a specific round of antibiotics and he is feeling better.Sometimes I feel like these doctors just think im there for attention or drugs but all I want is to get better.The sad thing to me is that I cant remember the last time that my stomach didn't hurt.
