HI,
I just wanted to give a little update to anyone who may be interested or thinking about
giving this a try. I am going into day 6 tomorrow with FT. It's been pretty up and down. I saw no results, almost felt worse the first 2-3 days. Days 4 and 5 have gone much better.
I've dropped down from my high hospital dose of prednisone to 40mg. I was at 160mg IV in the hospital, 60mg on the Jan. 19th, and i've just been moving down to a more reasonable level since. With that, usually my symptoms would be getting a little worse or staying the same. However, things are actually improving! It's far too early to say its working but I'm still hopeful. Prednisone is really the determining factor for me in all of this. If I can continue to safely (and slowly) go down on prednisone without flaring out of control I'll know this is working. My stools have gone from 10-20 bloody and very runny (basically water) to 4-6 sometimes runny/bloody and sometimes solid. Also, it looks and smells much more normal some of the time (not every time). It's still very up and down, but any sign of improvement I get I see as a very positive sign.
I really do think this could be the answer for many people and I hope anyone who is considering surgery will at least consider this first. It's harmless if done with caution and basically free, symptom free, with long lasting results. Questions are welcome, I'm completely obsessed with talking about
this but obviously cannot tell friends or loved ones… its just still a little shocking to me haha :) Never saw myself doing this but I'm sure glad I'm trying!
