Hi I live in Adelaide and had similar to you my GI first put me on the salofaulk did not do a thing, then I was on pred enemas and salofaulk also did nothing. My brother organised a Naturopath and it has worked out great for me, I am on a diet and this will scare you to begin with gluten free, dairy free, caffeinne free, condiment free, shell fish free, canned or smoked fish free, canned and proccessed food free, deli meat free, red meat and pork free including sausages etc.
the diet sounds really restrictive and unless or I should say until you are ready to try it, and not cheat it probably won't work. My naturopath is Janelle Camuglia in Sydney NSW I have never been to visit her, but she got me into remission in 7 weeks on the diet and with some supplements.
If you have only had UC for 3 monthes you may be able to get there faster, the diet does not work for everyone so I have read on this post. But double the amount of people use food avoidance or diet to help manage their UC and have success with remission. I was at my GP yesterday as I had Dr app for 2 of our children and he commented on how well I look. I suggest you email her and ask some questions maybe she can help you or know someone in Perth. It is a different route to the GI but I tried the medication for almost 2 years and was in constant flare up running to the toilet with mucous and blood and urgency and it progressively got worse. Perhaps in the early stages you can make more progess faster, my GI told me it had nothing to do with diet or stress he was very wrong.
I am on rejuven x, vital greens, with rice milk morning and night and a boswellia tablet morning and night. The rejuven x and boswellia you need a naturopath perscritpion for, it was expensive origionally to get into remission but worth every cent as I am still in remission and on a maintenance routine which is what I would be on with medication anyway.
I have put Janelle's email below so feel free to email her maybe she can help Good luck keep me posted. UC is a very horrible thing to have and can be very restrictive on your everyday life.
