Are you taking any UC maintenance med(s)? I wonder whether you just need more fluid intake at this point to make your G/I tract more comfortable; the cramping could be viral. / Old Hat (31 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Selly, I hope you're not going into flare. Keeping my fingers crossed, but even "common" cold virus can bring UC up again. Everything and anything that is hard on stomach, guts can make it worse. Yet, I think, going with the enemas every night for a while would be a good way to keep things at bay.
If you have difficulty with BM, trying some Metmucil sounds good to me as well. If it's just a constipation after the flu, it will make it better. If it is some other kind of viral stuff, getting rid of it asap would be not too bad as well. Maybe increase your probiotic intake as well.

You might have caught a norovirus. That affects the lining of the G/I tract. I had it a couple winters back, and was getting stomach cramps every few hours. Couldn't figure out what was wrong! Then Eva Lou posted here about her symptoms, and we found out that a norovirus was spreading around our region of the U.S. It hit so many people that even the media finally reported it. Both of us got over it after a week of symptoms. Be sure to keep yourself well-hydrated and rest as much as you can.
