Salofalk Enema heart palps

YES! I get the same thing! Sorry that you're experiencing that too, but I'm also relieved to know I'm not the only one.

I've gotten heart palpitations before with Vitamin D and I stopped that right away after I made the connection. Hasn't happened since...until I started the enemas a couple weeks ago. I'm taking Salofalk enemas too - 4g.

I get it more frequently than you describe and it really freaks me out, I must say. What are you planning to do about it? Anything? I'm going to mention it to my GI, but I already have the feeling she'll tell me I'm 'dreaming' it. Ugh. The last days I've been looking into slippery elm powder and starting up consistently with psyllium in hopes to replace the Salofalk enemas. I won't continue with them. I'd rather have butt issues than a potentially bigger one with my heart.

I spoke to my doc about this and she said that it's not uncommon to have this side effect with salofalk. Apparently, it's not a cause for concern if you're sure there's no other serious underlying condition causing it. I opted to stop using them, mostly because I'm just not comfortable with the idea that the med messes with my heart beat and because I've been on other mesalamine enemas that didn't cause me to have these heart issues.

If it bugs you, maybe consider a switch to another enema? Have you spoken with the doc who prescribed the enemas? That should be your first stop.
