Tap water, Do you drink it?

i don't think about this much myself, but its only been in about the past 50 years or so that anyone drank filtered or city water. My great grandparents had an actual well with a bucket until the mid 60's. No indoor plumbing, you went on the back porch, pulled up the water and drank it straight. She lived to be 93, and her daughters are now all over 84. doesn't seem to have hurt old people much :D

i cook with tap water, drink double filtered tapwater (faucet filter pours into a pitcher filter), and use mostly bottled water for when I drink my probiotics twice a day (30m before breakfast, and again before bedtime). i dont want any residual chlorine to kill off my expensive probiotics.

Because of the unique hydrological systems of volcanic islands, we have two kinds of water in Hawaii. There is d.y.k.e water that comes from the porous rocks in the mountains, and there is lens water that comes from the layer of fresh water that floats on top of the salt water under the island. Which you get depends on where on the island you live.

While d.y.k.e water is generally better than lens water, both are better in both taste and impurities than most bottled water. And yet, a very many people still waste their money on bottled water,

I know this because my wife spent a career as a hydrologist, first for the City of Honolulu, then for the State of Hawaii; and her job was to make sure that municipal water was better than bottled water.

I think people are realizing more and more that we need to avoid drinking straight from the tap or city water. I read recently that even filtered water doesnt get all of the "bad stuff" out of the water along with the importance of avoiding chlorinated water. I guess a high quality filter system is about the best you can do without having to buy spring water.

It is nice to see an old post still being utilized. It shows how valuable this site is for information new and old..

Not really!

I think I get plenty of water. My pee's always nearly clear. And besides, if I drank any more than I do now, I'd never get any work done nor get any sleep. My little "parasite" is squishing my bladder and seems to think it's a play toy on occasion. ;)

And I just notice details like that. I always wonder why someone is pulling up an old thread, and when I see that the person who did it also included a link, my immediate thought is "spammer." If you click on a username, you see their last few posts, and all of those posts by that person included a link to that site.

And soystud, even if the site isn't selling anything, it's still spam, based on my personal definition, as the intent of the post is to increase traffic to the website.

why on earth would you have a problem with a site that promotes water ?

while i don't see a direct benefit specific to uc'ers, there is still viable info -

rule breaker i guess - bad bad bad !

so is there a difference between information and advertising ?

obviously i'm probably making a bigger deal of this than i should, but i do have an issue with censorship -

i mean seriously - this site is not selling anything - and the folks on this forum can choose not to click on the link -

Here is an interesting video that shows what is in the tap water we drink and even the bottled water. I've recently switched to distilled water but the jury is still out on this as there is some very confusing and misleading information about distilled water being good or bad for you.

Yes why?

There are good and bad points to everything. There has been a huge increase in cavities over the last several years due to people drinking more bottled water instead of tap water.
