Hello folks,

I was searching for fish oil comparison but could not find one except for the cases where the brand wanted to trump how they are better than other but didn't serve my purpose i.e. best bang for the buck. So I made my own sheet. Its certainly not complete and I will be glad if you could chip in with the brand that you use (and not listed here), I will update the list ASAP.

The brands like Carlson or Coromega are not listed as they are not best bang for the buck.

Hmm. Think you can add which ones are likely to give fish burps?

After reading a few reviews, I noticed that burping is reported in enteric coated fish oils as well so this phenomenon doesn't seem to be universal. Hence I focused on EFA/$. Personally, I learned to tolerate burping.

I have been using the Nature Made "Burpless" fish oil and have not had any repeat whatsoever. Previously, I was using a regular fish oil and the burps were making me nauseous. Big relief.

Just wanted to bump up this thread as I would like to know if folks are taking any different fish oil brands than the ones I collected.

Need to up my Fish oil dose significantly as the triglyerides are pretty high...

I have heard that refrigerating or maybe freezing fish oil capsules helps prevent fish burps. But I have not tried it.

Be careful looking for the best bang for the buck. Consumerlab.com has noted that there are some fish oil with contaminants. My guess that they would include some of the cheaper brands. I would look into consumerlab to make sure the cheapest brand is OK.

Eskimo - PurEFA is a good one that doesn't give me fish burp.

My Holistic Doctor recommended it to me and offered me a full refund if it gave me fish burp.

He claims the ones that give you fish burp are just rancid.

My naturopath and MD both recommend Nordic Naturals. It is tested as safe, but it is not inexpensive. I have to agree with using caution with the less expensive fish oils.
How about eating sardines? If you eat a can of sardines you really get a lot of fish oil and sardines are a low contaminant fish.

If the thought of sardines bothers you, try boneless, skinless sardines packed in olive oil. The sardines in that form taste very similar to canned tuna. They are really good on a salad.

Sardines also have a good amount of CoQ10 --I think to get the most benefit there, you do need to eat the sardines that have not been skinned. -- for the timid, the regular sardines (not boneless, skinless) are more easily approachable if you put them in a bowl and cut them up until they look like canned tuna and then adding them to a salad or whatever.

I used to use New Chapter which has now sold it self out selfishly to the franchise that makes well known chemically enhanced-products (Dawn, Bounce, Arm & Hammer), but was recommended DaVinci Fish Oil, which is 100% pure and natural, no Adachidonic(sp?) Acid, $9 bucks on PureFormulas.com. This website gives me 10-20% off coupons every time I order something its crazy! Saving alot of money here.
