Hello everyone, this is my first thread on this board and I'm hoping someone can help me out. I was diagnosed with UC about
a year ago and it is currently flaring pretty bad. I have also been weight trainig for abou two years. It is one of the best things I ever started doing in terms of stress relief, I highly recommend it to anyone looking to de-stress!
Anyhow, I started a rather agressive weight training program about two months ago and saw almost immmediate increases in my strength levels and weight being used for workouts. Enter the UC. It started flaring big time about two weeks ago, the meds aren't doing anything and I've watched my workout weights drop off little by little.
I was hoping some one might be able to give me some advice about weight training while flaring or any kind of useful advice about exercising during flares. Lving with UC is still pretty new to me and I guess I'm still trying to figure this all out.
Oh, by the way, I'm a 37 year old male. I use a 4g. mesalamine enema daily, 1200mg asacol daily and was taking 40 mg prednisone daily. The prednisone only lasted ten days before I had to stop taking it because it made me an anxiety ridden mess.
